Human Resources Coordinator – Longer Term Ongoing Contract

SSA Marine is seeking a Human Resources Coordinator to join our team. This full-time, longer term ongoing contract position is based at our office in North Vancouver and reports to the Director, Human Resources.

The Position

The HR Coordinator will play a key role in supporting the daily operations of the Human Resources department for the Terminals & Stevedoring Division. Primary responsibilities include coordinating recruitment efforts, administering compensation and benefits, ensuring compliance with employment regulations, policies, and procedures, and maintaining accurate employee data. This position serves as a resource for all employees, addressing inquiries related to various aspects of the employee-employer relationship.

As a member of a dynamic and diverse team, the HR Coordinator will engage with employees across all levels of the organization, fostering a collaborative and supportive work environment.

Responsibilities & Activities

  • Plan, develop, implement, and monitor divisional HR activities to enhance the employer brand.
  • Collaborate with managers for unbiased recruitment and effective employee lifecycle support.
  • Coordinate with Finance for payroll and reporting confidentiality.
  • Administer employee benefits and ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Prepare HR-related correspondence, reports, and communications.
  • Analyze HR metrics for insights.

Qualifications & Skills

The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong customer focus, be self-motivated, and possess exceptional drive. They will exhibit excellent communication skills, enabling seamless interaction with individuals at all levels of the organization. Additionally, the candidate will be analytical, adept at problem-solving, and possess critical thinking abilities with a keen attention to detail. The qualifications and skills required for success in this role include:

  • Degree in Human Resources or related field with 3+ years of relevant experience.
  • Strong planning, organization, and attention to detail.
  • Customer-focused with excellent multitasking, communication, and teamwork abilities.
  • Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Knowledgeable in HR principles, processes, and systems.
  • Skilled in benefits administration and driven by continuous improvement.
