About This Position
Reporting directly to the CEO and working closely with the senior executive team and the Board of Trustees, this critical position has oversight for all the financial functions of the organization and related compliance with local, state and federal legal and regulatory requirements. The job has both strategic and tactical management responsibilities for information technology, accounting, finance, treasury, reporting, budgeting, financial policy, auditing, tax, revenue cycle management and staff management and development. The CFO will work directly with the other senior executives of AnMed on setting the overall strategic direction of the system, and be responsible for critical functions that tactically implement that strategy in a dramatically changing healthcare environment.
Education/Qualifications:
- Strong leader who can work collaboratively with varied constituencies.
- Minimum 7+ years of comprehensive experience in senior financial management, including substantial experience in P&L management, financial reporting, accounting policy development, internal control design and remediation, systems implementation, not for profit tax compliance, and management of internal and external audit issues.
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance required. CPA and/or advanced degrees preferred.
- Strong preference for direct CFO or VP-Finance experience in a health system environment with minimum revenue of $400+ million dollars and with multi-site, multi-disciplinary components.
- Demonstrated experience with impactful cost reduction plans and process improvement.
- Deep understanding and experience with comprehensive revenue cycle management and reimbursement, as well as the systems that support the function and a measurable track record of success in cost management.
- Knowledgeable about clinically integrated networks and other emerging healthcare trends preferred.
- Demonstrated ability successfully working with physicians and outside physician practices/business entities; ability to create and maintain meaningful relationships with the same.
- Experience with mergers, acquisitions, system integration preferred.
- Thorough knowledge of fundamentals and advance practices in the field of financial management as it relates to integrated health systems and hospitals.
- Knowledge of systems, both in the applied (data systems) and theoretical (general systems) is essential. Understanding and experience with Epic systems a plus.
- Substantial experience in change management including: effective goal setting for teams; successful motivation of work groups to adopt best practices; and restructuring to improve operational efficiency and effectiveness.
- Experience in Board of Directors/Trustees level communications preferred.
- Ten years plus of experience supervising professional accounting and finance staff.
- Experience in management in complex, matrixed organizations.
- Broad knowledge of the health care industry, hospital management, insurance, managed care and integrated delivery systems.
- Experience with managed care relations, contracting and reimbursement, including direct participation in negotiating is strongly preferred.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication/presentation skills.
