Job Description

Pathway Capital Management, headquartered near Los Angeles, California, is a leading global private equity fund manager. Formed in 1991, the company develops and manages diversified portfolios of private equity investments on behalf of institutional and corporate clients.

Pathway's Hong Kong office, established in 2012, is responsible for all new investment activity in Asia, monitoring existing investments, and maintaining and developing client relationships.

Responsibilities for this position include the following:

New investments

Member of deal team performing analysis and due diligence on investment opportunities primarily in Asia, but also in the US and EuropeResponsible for a wide variety of analysis to support new investment processInteraction with General Partners, intermediaries and placement agents as part of an extensive and rigorous due diligence processReview and organization of data for investment analysis, performing appropriate quantitative analysis on the General Partner’s investment recordFinancial analysis and valuation of portfolio companiesMaintenance of databases & files to support the investment processAssistance in preparation of investment analysis reportsSupport Asia GP market mappingAssist in managing Asia new deal work flow

Investment Monitoring

Responsible for monitoring partnership/client portfolio performance (not limited to Asian partnerships) by performing:Quarterly performance analysis of partnerships including capital account reconciliationsQuarterly performance analysis of underlying portfolio companiesReconciliation of cash flow data to partnership accountsReporting of significant changes within clients’ portfoliosResponsibility for maintaining databases that track performanceAttendance at General Partner update meetings, annual meetingsProduction of General Partner updates distributed within Pathway

Client Servicing

Production of monthly, quarterly and annual performance reports for clientsAnalysis of client portfolio performanceEnsuring performance data fully updated for reporting periodVerifying data integrity for specific clients’ portfoliosDetermination and research of significant portfolio eventsPreparation and distribution of monthly cash flow and valuation reports to custodians and consultantsAssistance in preparation of marketing / RFP materials and presentations for developing new client relationshipsPreparation and distribution of quarterly client reportsVariety of forecasting and other ad-hoc analysesAssistance in preparation of client presentationsAttendance at client meetings/presentations

Environment Reporting

Research and analysis for private equity environment reports covering AsiaTracking of Asia private equity and economic statisticsMaintenance of databases to track investment and fundraising activity in Asia, including new investment pipelineInvolvement in researching specific Asia private equity market environments including regulations, investment structures etc.Assistance in preparation of marketing / RFP materials and presentations for developing new client relationships

Qualifications

2 years relevant experience in blue-chip environment: private equity, accountancy, banking, asset management or similar.A first class academic background from a top tier universityIntelligent and capable, displaying a high level of accuracy and attention to detail when completing tasksAbility to proactively take on tasks and work independently within broad policiesAbility to manage and prioritize tasks to insure timely completionAbility to interpret qualitative and quantitative data, and add own judgment to the investment process.Excellent understanding of accountancy and financial analysisAbility to write clearly and conciselyGood, proactive verbal communication skillsStrong computer skills, including advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint applications.Willingness to learn and fit into the Pathway processPersonable and presentable; ability to establish great relationships with clients and coworkersAbility to maintain professionalism at all times in a confidential environmentMust be able to travel to US office for training and broadly across Asia for investment, client and marketing activitiesLooking for long term career opportunity within private equityWillingness to contribute to all aspects of the development and running of the Hong Kong office over the long termFluent in English language (reading, writing and speaking) and at lease one Asian language (Mandarin and Korean strongly preferred).
