Learning Specialist - K-8 at Archdiocese Of Denver – Lakewood, Colorado

The Learning Specialist is responsible for providing curriculum supports for students, teachers, and administration.

Duties of this position include but are not limited to:

1. Planning:

a) Assisting with the implementation of programs and follow up ensuring consistency with the county and private testing that students receive.

b) Working with staff for the purpose of planning and developing appropriate instruction.

c) Facilitating and/or attending related meetings for students receiving support.

d) Remaining current with research based interventions.

2. Providing Support:

a) Working with a small group of students in each grade level, whether advanced or remedial.

b) Working with individual students when appropriate to reinforce the classroom teaching.

c) Assisting with the selection and production of instructional materials and appropriate supplementary strategies.

d) Modeling appropriate classroom strategies.

e) Exhibiting best practices in all areas relevant to the position.

3. Communicating:

a) Communicating/Coordinating the educational efforts of the learning specialist and the classroom teachers.

b) Creating and providing timelines, calendars, and schedules.

c) Communicating with parents.

4. Reporting:

a) Completing appropriate reports.

b) Providing an analysis and progress monitoring of student performance data.

c) Providing an analysis of program effectiveness.

d) Assisting teachers in analyzing data from DIBELS, STAR Testing, and other current assessment tools.
