About This Position
Pay Range: $20.50 – $22.00 per hour (based on experience and qualifications)
Position Summary
The Shift Leader is responsible for supervising restaurant operations during assigned shifts and providing direction to hourly team members. In the absence of the General Manager or Assistant Manager, the Shift Leader ensures service standards, food safety, cash handling, and operational procedures are followed.
This is a working leadership position that includes both supervisory and hands-on responsibilities.
Reporting Structure
Reports to the General Manager and Assistant Manager.
Supervises hourly team members during assigned shifts.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Directs and assigns workstations and priorities for team members during shift
- Ensures service standards for speed, accuracy, and hospitality are met
- Leads opening and/or closing procedures, including security protocols
- Monitors food quality, holding times, and food safety compliance
- Ensures cleanliness and sanitation standards are maintained throughout shift
- Accounts for company funds during shift, including register counts, safe audits, and shift-end balancing
- Prepares and verifies bank deposits in accordance with company procedures
- Monitors staffing levels and adjusts assignments based on business volume
- Trains and supports team members on operational procedures and standards
- Coaches team members and addresses performance concerns; escalates serious issues to management
- Ensures meal and rest break compliance in accordance with California labor laws
- Checks in deliveries and verifies inventory accuracy
- Resolves guest concerns and reports significant issues to management
- Fills in at workstations as needed to support operations
- Completes required administrative tasks for assigned shift
- Must be at least 18 years old
- Minimum 1 year of restaurant supervisory experience preferred, or demonstrated leadership experience within the restaurant
- Ability to lead and motivate a team in a fast-paced environment
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
- Basic math skills and ability to manage cash handling procedures
- Ability to read and understand operational procedures
- Must obtain a California Food Handler Card within 30 days of hire (training and certification provided and paid for by the Company in accordance with state law)
High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

- Reaching, bending, lifting, and repetitive motions
- Ability to lift and carry up to 40 pounds
- Exposure to heat, steam, smoke, and cold environments
- Ability to work during peak business hours

This is a non-exempt, hourly position.
