Overview
Study Coordinator Group Prenatal Care.
We are looking for a highly motivated candidate with previous healthcare experience to join the Bronx Healthy Start Partnership's new initiative of Group Prenatal Care, Centering Pregnancy Team. This position requires excellent verbal and written skills and the ability to prioritize and manage time. This data-driven program requires typing, data entry, strong organizational skills, consistent meeting of deadlines, and good stress management/self-care skills.
The Bronx Healthy Start Partnership is an initiative to eliminate disparities in perinatal health and is grant-funded by the Federal Health Services and Services Administration’s Maternal and Child Health Bureau’s Division of Healthy Start and Perinatal Services.
This national program aims to address the following goals: a) reduce infant mortality and adverse perinatal outcomes and disparities by 1) improving women’s health, 2) Improving family health and wellness, and 3) Promoting systems change. 4) Assuring impact and effectiveness through workforce development, data collection, quality improvement, performance monitoring, and evaluation.
The Study Coordinator must have the ability to handle confidential information and be tactful in giving and receiving such information.
The ideal candidate will display careful attention to detail, excellent written and oral communication skills, strong critical thinking skills, and efficiency and flexibility within a team. The Bronx, New York, is a culturally diverse borough, with a large portion of Spanish-speaking individuals, so Spanish proficiency is encouraged.
Responsibilities
Position Responsibilities
- Working within a multidisciplinary team, the Study Coordinator will work with the Steering Committee for the Group Prenatal Care services of Centering Pregnancy and the Community Health Workers of the enabling services components of the Bronx Healthy Start Program.
- Coordinate Group Prenatal Care project with clinicians, clinic site staff, and Clinical Coordinator.
- Work with Program Director, and Program Coordinator to set up and update operations measures, recruitment, and enrollment databases and procedures.
- Develop leadership Committee meeting agendas, facilitate Committee meetings, take meeting notes, and upload them to the database.
- Working with Healthy Start staff, Clinicians, and Clinic Site Staff, community partners to oversee participant referrals and retention.
- Oversees recruitment and enrollment of centering participants and monitors the recruitment/enrollment process.
- Serve as an interdisciplinary liaison between patients and multiple hospital services (nursing, radiology, social work, laboratory, pharmacy, subspecialties)
- Makes reminder calls to patients.
- Develops the group prenatal care schedule with the clinicians.
- Reserves room for Centering groups.
- Ensures that the schedules of providers and facilitators are blocked for groups.
- Provides Centering schedule to patient schedulers and copies to patients.
- Orders and maintains supplies of Centering facilitators and participant notebooks.
- Orders/buys snacks
- Sets up/breaks down the Centering room.
- Tracks group attendance and any health outcomes the clinic has chosen to track.
- Collects and reviews patient satisfaction surveys and facilitator process evaluations.
- Attend internal and external academic meetings and community events.
- Managing and analyzing data; performing regular audits to ensure that collected data are complete and accurate and that program protocols are being followed.
- Assist with data analysis, drafting reports, and preparing monthly reports, and presentations.
- Liaise with study participants and interact with clinical and program staff daily.
Qualifications
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in a health-related field.
- Bilingual English and Spanish required.
- Experience in programmatic support in public health or related fields and experience working with similar populations preferred.
- Experience in data collection, data cleaning, and analysis preferred.
- Intimate understanding of structured databases supporting tracking and management of data collection (i.e. Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Word, ACCESS, and Excel etc.)
- Experience working with interdisciplinary teams that include clinical partners and community-based organizations is preferred.
Skills and Competencies
- As part of a team, one must be able to manage multiple tasks and priorities, work independently with minimal supervision, and adhere to program protocol.
- Can be relied upon to ensure that activities within areas of specific responsibility are completed on time.
