Function of Position:

Summary and Purpose of Position:

This position requires the candidate to currently hold a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) designation. Under supervision of the Surgical Technology Program Director, the Laboratory Support Personnel sets up laboratories/classrooms for instruction, assists faculty members in preparation and implementation of simulation laboratories, demonstrates operation of equipment to students, supervises students working in Surgical Technology lab.

Examples of Duties & Responsibilities:

• Sets up instructional materials and specialized surgical equipment for OR lab/simulations
• Assists with routine maintenance of environment and surgical equipment, including classroom, media, simulators, lab equipment and supplies
• Assists with department inventory control
• Assists students with equipment, media
• Supervises students working in Surgical Technology lab
• Works collaboratively with the T.A. for the Nursing Program and the Nursing Learning Center Coordinator to support student learning in both the Surgical Technology program and the Nursing program
• Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned by immediate supervisor

Job Requirements:

Required Qualifications:

• National Board of Surgical Technologists and Surgical Assistants certification as a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST)
• High School Diploma or GED
• Two years of operating room experience
• Proven ability to use, maintain, and troubleshoot operating room equipment
• Experience in managing an inventory of supplies and equipment
• Competent in the use of computer software/hardware
• Effective written communication

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in managing an inventory of supplies and specialized equipment
• Knowledge of autoclave use

Additional Information:

Pay Range: $23.07 to 38.70/hr
