About This Position
Job Overview:
The Mental Health Screener responds to the emotional needs of those requesting assistance through screening, assessment, crisis intervention, referral and outreach.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required:
- Master's degree in social work, psychology, nursing or related clinical field required
- Certified New Jersey Mental Health Screener or immediately eligible within six months of hire required
- Two years’ experience in a mental health setting, preferably in crisis intervention/emergency services
Scheduling Requirements:
- Full-Time
- Night Shift
- 36 hours per week
Essential Functions:
- Brings all unusual situation, incidents or difficulties encountered to the provision of emergency services to the attention of the Director or his/her designate
- Facilitates voluntary/involuntary hospitalization of clients in accordance with the Emergency Services policies and procedures
- Fully documents all client contacts and submits in a timely manner
- Provides and completes all documentation records and forms as stipulated in the Emergency Services Department policies and procedures
- Provides crisis intervention, information, and referral services on the telephone, in the Emergency Room and throughout the community
- Provides weekend, evening, and holiday coverage depending on the program needs
- Performs all other duties as assigned
