Job Description

Description:

Join Catholic Charities as a Parenting Support Program Coordinator and play a key role in strengthening families experiencing poverty through parenting education, early childhood support, and access to critical childcare resources. In this role, you will coordinate and expand parenting support services, build and manage childcare partnerships, and provide direct coaching and case management to families in both transitional housing and the broader community.

You will serve as both a direct support to families and a community connector—helping parents access childcare subsidies, engage in evidence-based parenting programs, and build long-term stability through a 2Gen (two-generation), whole-family approach grounded in family voice and strengths-based practice.

This is a highly relational and community-facing role that blends direct service, program coordination, and outreach, with a strong focus on growing engagement and increasing access to services for families with young children.

A flexible schedule is required, including 1–2 evenings per month and one weekend day per month to support family engagement activities and program events.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in early childhood education, human services, or related field preferred
  • OR Associate’s degree in a human services-related field with 1–2 years of relevant experience
  • OR High school diploma with 2–4 years of direct client/family-facing experience
  • Experience working with low-income children and families required
  • Experience coordinating services, programs, schedules, or group activities preferred

Competencies

  • Strong skills in family engagement and early childhood development.
  • Strong organization and coordination skills, including scheduling, follow-through, and managing multiple priorities.
  • Ability to lead processes and influence outcomes including facilitating coordination, resolving barriers, and supporting continuous improvement.
  • Effective communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed care, family systems, and community resources.
  • Ability to maintain accurate documentation and use databases.
  • Cultural awareness and ability to work effectively with diverse populations.

Requirements

  • Bilingual English/Spanish strongly preferred
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
  • Background clearance required
  • Ability to lift and hold small children
  • Maintain confidentiality and comply with mandatory reporting requirements
  • Strong communication, organization, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively

Essential Duties

The Parenting Support Program Coordinator provides support services to parents experiencing poverty. These include:

  • Spearheading Catholic Charities’ childcare support service, which works with families to provide access to the specific childcare that meets their needs. This includes creating childcare plans, creating and managing partnerships with childcare facilities, summer camp providers, early childhood centers, etc., as well as being the “expert on site” about the different subsidies and benefits available to low-income families.
  • Supporting parents in Catholic Charities transitional housing program and parents in the wider community. The program coordinator is expected to carry a caseload of five transitional housing families and five community-based families and provide parenting coaching by using strength-based practices and a 2Generation, whole-family approach guided by family voice.
  • Engaging the wider community in parenting support services offered by Catholic Charities. This includes establishing and growing caseloads by offering monthly workshops at hours convenient to working families (evenings and weekends) and working to ensure widespread community knowledge about what is available for parents and children through Catholic Charities through sustained outreach. This position will be responsible for the growth of the parenting support program, as measured by increased visits and sustained engagement of families. The program coordinator will be responsible for setting targets in this area.
