MES Release Manager

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a MES Release Manager based in United States.

This role offers the opportunity to lead software release management activities for complex technology environments supporting critical government and enterprise operations.
You will be responsible for coordinating deployment strategies, managing release schedules, and ensuring smooth transitions across development, testing, and production environments.
The position requires strong collaboration across engineering, QA, operations, and business teams to deliver reliable and efficient releases.
You will help establish structured release processes aligned with industry best practices, governance standards, and operational excellence.

Accountabilities:

The MES Release Manager will oversee end-to-end release planning, coordination, and execution to ensure reliable delivery of software updates and system enhancements. This role serves as the central point of contact for release activities, working closely with technical teams and business stakeholders to maintain operational stability and delivery excellence.

  • Develop and maintain release schedules, tracking deployments, maintenance windows, dependencies, milestones, and potential risks.
  • Define release scope, objectives, timelines, and execution plans while ensuring alignment with organizational priorities.
  • Coordinate release activities across development, quality assurance, operations, and business teams.
  • Manage customer approval processes before functionality is promoted across environments.
  • Establish and maintain structured release management processes aligned with ITIL best practices and governance requirements.
  • Participate in change control processes, including coordination with review boards to ensure successful implementation.
  • Maintain release documentation, including planned, active, and completed releases, ensuring transparency and traceability.
  • Oversee deployment activities by validating readiness, testing completion, production requirements, and transition plans.
  • Develop rollback strategies and contingency plans to mitigate risks associated with failed deployments.
  • Monitor release performance and provide reporting on timelines, quality, status, and operational outcomes.
  • Act as a liaison between technical teams and business stakeholders, ensuring clear communication throughout the release lifecycle.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities for automation, efficiency, and process optimization.
Requirements:

The ideal candidate brings experience managing enterprise software releases, strong knowledge of IT service management practices, and the ability to coordinate complex technical initiatives across multiple teams.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related technical field.
  • 5+ years of experience managing software releases, product releases, or similar technology delivery processes.
  • 2+ years of experience working with change management, incident management, and Change Advisory Board (CAB) processes.
  • Strong understanding of release management methodologies, including ITIL Release Management practices.
  • Experience managing deployment strategies, release cycles, and production implementation activities.
  • Knowledge of software development lifecycle processes and enterprise application environments.
  • Ability to identify, assess, and mitigate technical and operational risks.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to collaborate across technical and business teams.
  • Experience with MES/MMIS systems or similar enterprise platforms is preferred.
  • Ability to travel approximately 20–30% as required.
