Job Description

Position Summary

Boombox Beverage is a fast-growing manufacturer specializing in shelf-stable coffee, protein, and functional beverages. We partner with emerging and established brands to deliver innovative products with speed, quality, and operational excellence.

The Food Safety, Quality Assurance Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and maintaining the company's food safety, quality assurance, and regulatory compliance programs. This role ensures products meet customer specifications, regulatory requirements, and company quality standards while supporting continuous improvement initiatives throughout the facility. The supervisor leads quality personnel, compliance with food safety systems, and serves as a key resource during audits, inspections, and customer interactions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Food Safety & Quality Management

• Supervise daily quality assurance and food safety activities within the facility.
• Ensure compliance with food safety programs including HACCP, Preventive Controls, GMPs, SSOPs, allergen management, and environmental monitoring programs.
• Monitor production processes to verify adherence to established quality and food safety standards.
• Investigate quality and food safety issues, identify root causes, and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
• Review and approve quality records, deviations, and corrective action documentation.
• Conduct trend analysis on quality metrics and recommend process improvements.

Regulatory Compliance

• Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations, including FDA, FSMA, and customer-specific requirements.
• Maintain facility readiness for regulatory inspections and third-party audits.
• Monitor regulatory updates and communicate changes that may impact company operations.
• Assist with product labeling reviews to ensure compliance with applicable regulations.
• Support product traceability, recall readiness, and crisis management programs.

Audit & Certification Management

• Participate in internal, customer, regulatory, and third-party audits.
• Coordinate audit preparation activities and oversee corrective action implementation.
• Support certification programs such as SQF, or other applicable standards.
• Maintain documentation and records required for certification and regulatory compliance.

Team Leadership

• Supervise, train, coach, and develop Food Safety, Quality Assurance Technicians and other quality personnel.
• Conduct performance evaluations and provide ongoing feedback.
• Schedule staff to ensure adequate quality coverage across all shifts.
• Foster a culture of food safety, quality excellence, and continuous improvement.

Training & Continuous Improvement

• Develop and deliver food safety, GMP, sanitation, and quality training programs.
• Lead initiatives focused on reducing defects, customer complaints, and food safety risks.
• Collaborate with Operations, Sanitation, Maintenance, R&D, and Supply Chain teams to improve product quality and operational efficiency.
• Support implementation of continuous improvement methodologies and quality management systems.

Documentation & Reporting

• Maintain accurate records and documentation in accordance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
• Prepare and communicate quality performance reports and key performance indicators (KPIs).
• Ensure document control procedures are followed for quality and food safety programs.

Qualifications

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in food science, Microbiology, Biology, Chemistry, Quality Assurance, or a related field preferred.
• Equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered.

Experience

• 3–5+ years of experience in food safety, quality assurance, or regulatory compliance within the food manufacturing industry.
• Previous supervisory or team leadership experience preferred.
• Experience with GFSI-recognized certification programs (SQF, BRCGS, FSSC 22000) strongly preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Strong knowledge of HACCP, FSMA Preventive Controls, GMPs, allergen controls, sanitation programs, BPCS, and food safety principles.
• Familiarity with FDA, and applicable food regulations.
• Experience conducting root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions.
• Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Excellent organizational and documentation skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and quality management systems.
• Ability to work cross-functionally and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Certifications

• Preventive Controls Qualified Individual (PCQI)
• HACCP Certification

Physical Requirements

• Ability to work in manufacturing and warehouse environments.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to [25–50] pounds as needed.
• Ability to work in varying temperature environments and wear required PPE.
