Job Description
Under the direction of the Director of Nursing, the Staffing Coordinator is responsible for staffing the nursing units for coverage needs related to acuity, absences, and leave time. This position will also assist with other projects as assigned by Director of Nursing.
QUALIFICATIONS
A High School Graduate, some college preferred. RN or LPN licensure. A minimum of two (2) years experience in addiction and/or mental health treatment field. Candidates must be organized and demonstrate the ability to multi-task and have well-developed relational skills treating all people with dignity and respect. Candidate must be flexible and available to take call 24/7, able to maintain department confidentiality.
PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS
Staffing and Scheduling
- Makes monthly nurse schedules.
- Covers call in. Has sole responsibility for covering shifts if no other nursing staff is available.
- Approves nurse schedule changes.
- Adjusts nurse staffing for weekends or census needs as necessary.
- Monitors, tracks, and covers daily nurse call-ins.
Physician Assistance
- Monitoring which patients should be seen.
- Coordinate patient discharge prescriptions/orders.
- Coordinates/monitors any medication tapers needed; any medication adjustments needed; any patient complaints or issues.
Medication Count/Monitoring Narcotic Logs
- Track incorrect counts on both units.
- Monitor narcotic logs for signature and obtain signature if required.
- Monitor for suspicious trends.
Pharmacy Orders/Pharmacy Bills
- Check count sheets and OTC medications to ensure that the orders requested are needed.
- Move medication from unit to unit as needed to cut down cost of orders.
- Checks pharmacy bills against narcotic log, narcotic order sheets and pharmacy orders.
Medication Errors/ADR
- Alerts nursing staff of medication/charting errors and any needed corrections.
- Collects data to develop PI reports and graphs
- Tracks ADR and collects data to develop PI reports and graphs.
Other duties as assigned, including:
- Orders medical supplies.
- Corresponds with patients prescribing providers.
- Completes STD/FMLA paperwork and prepares return to work notes.
- Assists Nurses and Program Technicians with questions or situations as needed.
- Assists on unit with Doctor Orders or Admissions.
- Compiles and tracks facility Infection Control data
- Tracks and reports nurse absences and time off to HR through preparing the call log.
- Other duties as assigned by Director of Nursing
