The School of Nursing, Master of Nursing - Nurse Practitioner (MN-NP) program requires a sessional faculty member to teach the clinical components of the course NURS 5460: Nurse Practitioner Primary Healthcare II in the Fall 2026 term. The focus of NURS 5460 is on theoretical and evidence-informed knowledge and skills related to health promotion, illness prevention, and therapeutic management of episodic and chronic health conditions common to nurse practitioner practice across the lifespan, with emphasis on women's health and pediatrics. The successful applicant will be the instructor responsible for guiding and evaluating students through the clinical components of this course appropriate to the level required for MN-NP students. Experience teaching post-secondary education is an asset. Experience teaching nurse practitioner students is an asset. Experience teaching advanced health assessment and clinical management is an asset. Experience with antenatal care, neonatal and pediatric care is an asset.
This course also includes a theory component and a laboratory component, which are delivered by additional faculty.
The workload allocation for clinical faculty is 0.5 credits per assigned student. The total workload available for clinical faculty hire is 3 credits.
- PhD (or equivalent) is preferred;
- Master's degree for nurse practitioner (NP) preparation is required;
- Current NP registration in a Canadian jurisdiction in good standing without limits or conditions, and/or eligibility for registration with BCCNM;
- Three (3) years full-time or equivalent in the role of a Nurse Practitioner;
- Evidence of continuous learning in your area of nursing; and
- An understanding of, and experience in, the Canadian healthcare system.
