Scope of Work:

The Facility Administrator is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of a dialysis center, ensuring that patients receive high-quality care, and that the facility complies with all regulatory requirements.

If the nursing requirements listed below are not met, though preferred, an individual may be placed in the Facility Administrator role without them; however, in the absence of these position requirements, there must be a RN Clinical Coordinator to provide oversight of overall clinical services

Responsibilities and Expectations:

  1. Assure that the facility receives continuing certifications from all statutory and regulatory agencies by Monitoring adherence to healthcare policies, procedures, and guidelines
  2. Ensure that the facility is compliant with all applicable local, state and federal regulations, and accreditation standards
  3. Identify and mitigate risks to ensure patient safety and prevent adverse events
  4. Review all incident reports; make recommendations and take action relative to incidents as appropriate; report at monthly QAPI meetings
  5. Ensure the provision of high-quality patient care and maintain a safe environment for patients and staff
  6. Recruit, hire, train and supervise qualified healthcare personnel for various positions within the facility
  7. Plan and conduct effective and efficient staffing to meet the operational needs of the clinic, while meeting regulations
  8. Provide leadership and guidance to the staff, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment
  9. Conduct performance evaluations and address any performance-related issues, by counseling and disciplining employees
  10. Maintain effective personnel files including payroll approval
  11. Ensure efficient use of facility medications, supplies, resources and staff labor hours
  12. Oversee and implement cost-saving initiatives to improve financial performance
  13. Oversee daily operations, including patient scheduling, and timely acceptance of admission referrals
  14. Oversee all required facility records, reports and daily logs
  15. Ensure staff maintain chronological, thorough and appropriate documentation in the patient record of all treatments, activities and communication with the patient, physician and other healthcare professionals
  16. Manage all contractual agreements; update as needed with corporate oversight
  17. Continuously monitor to ensure that a safe and clean physical environment is maintained throughout the facility
  18. Supervise the maintenance of equipment, building areas occupied by the facility and other property belonging to the facility, ensuring that all equipment is maintained and functions properly
  19. Oversee medication and supply procurement, approvals and inventory management
  20. Possess knowledge and expertise of dialysis water treatment systems and regulatory standards
  21. Conduct and/or participate in both formal and informal meetings with the governing body, VP of Operations, Medical Director and the staff. Assure that appropriate staff meetings, in-service education meetings, and interdisciplinary team patient care planning meetings are held monthly
  22. Implement and lead Quality Assessment and Performance Improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes, meet regulatory outcome metrics and operational efficiencies
  23. Collaborate with the Medical Director and other members of the IDT team to ensure that patients receive high-quality care
  24. Problem solve and maintain effective communication with Physicians, patients, families, staff, and other healthcare professionals
  25. Oversee the grievance process and respond effectively to inquiries or complaints
  26. Establish and maintain professional relationships with the area hospitals, agencies and applicable ESRD networks
  27. Perform duties as assigned to meet the operational needs of the facility
  28. Always handle incoming and outgoing calls professionally and courteously, promptly answer calls while identifying oneself and the location
  29. Maintain confidentiality of patient protected health information (PHI)
  30. Assist with patient entry and exit within the facility as needed
  31. Maintain security of medical records
  32. Comply with all applicable healthcare regulations, guidelines, and protocols
  33. Maintain workspace and unit common areas to ensure cleanliness and organization
  34. Use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required by policies and procedures
  35. Participate in staff meetings and attend in-services as required
  36. Follow all company policies and procedures
  37. All other duties as assigned

Physical Demands and Working Conditions:

  1. The position could provide direct patient care that regularly involves heavy lifting, moving of patients and assisting with ambulation. Equipment aids and/or coworkers may provide assistance
  2. This position requires frequent, prolonged periods of standing and the employee must be able to bend over
  3. The employee may occasionally be required to move, with assistance, supplies and equipment of up to 200 lbs., and may lift chemical and water solutions of up to 50lbs. as high as 5 feet
  4. The work environment is characteristic of a health care facility with air temperature control and moderate noise levels
  5. May be exposed to infectious and contagious diseases/materials
  6. May be required to wear protective gear for extended periods of time
  7. Day to day work includes desk work, computer work, interaction with patients, facility/hospital staff and physicians
  8. The position may require travel to training sites or other facilities
  9. May be asked to provide essential functions of this position in other locations with the same physical demands and working conditions as described above
Requirements:

Position Requirements:

  1. Current Registered Nurse (RN) license, in good standing, in state of practice. License must be maintained as current and in good standing
  2. Current CPR certification required
  3. 12 months’ dialysis experience in a Charge Nurse or Registered Nurse position in accordance with regulations to provide leadership of the dialysis facility operations
  4. Relevant experience in healthcare management, with specific experience in dialysis facilities highly desirable
  5. Ability to function in a leadership role
  6. Possess consistent use of critical thinking skills to assess and resolve operational situations
  7. Demonstrated working knowledge of the English language and ability to communicate in writing as well as verbally
  8. Must have basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook); proficiency in all NRC clinical applications required within 30 days of hire
  9. Knowledge of medical terminology and procedures related to dialysis
  10. Strong organizational and multitasking skills
  11. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for effective customer interactions
  12. Proficiency in using computers and electronic medical record (EMR) systems
  13. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and remain composed under pressure
  14. Attention to detail to ensure accuracy and thoroughness of documentation and correspondence
  15. Excellent time management and task prioritization skills
  16. Proficiency in managing financial and operational aspects of healthcare facilities
  17. Knowledge of dialysis treatment procedures, and regulations
  18. Understanding of quality improvement methodologies and patient safety principles
