Job Description
Entry-Level Lube Technician / Apprentice Technician
About Us
We are a busy, customer-focused dealership service department committed to doing repairs the
right way and developing technicians for long-term careers. If you’re new to the industry or
currently working in quick lube, this is an opportunity to get into a structured shop with clear
expectations, consistent workflow, and a real growth path.
Position Overview
We’re hiring entry-level technicians and lube techs who want more than “just oil changes.” This
role starts in Express Service with strong coaching, defined skill milestones, and a development
plan designed to move you into Main Shop work over time. You’ll learn dealership processes,
proper inspection habits, and core mechanical fundamentals—then advance as you
demonstrate consistency, quality, and productivity.
Key Responsibilities
● Perform routine maintenance services: oil and filter changes, tire rotations, fluid checks,
and basic inspections
● Complete multi-point inspections and document findings accurately
● Perform light repair and maintenance items as training allows (filters, batteries, wipers,
bulbs, tire repairs)
● Follow safety procedures, vehicle protection standards, and quality control checks
● Maintain accurate repair order documentation (notes, parts usage, labor ops)
● Keep a clean, organized bay and care for tools and equipment
● Participate in training, coaching, and skills verification as part of your development plan
● Work collaboratively with advisors and technicians to support efficient shop flow
Advancement Path & Development Plan
This position is built around progression. Your growth is based on performance, consistency,
and skill completion—not time served.
Phase 1: Express Foundations (Weeks 1–8)
● Oil services, rotations, MPI consistency, shop safety, and workflow habits
● Focus: accuracy, pace, and zero-comeback fundamentals
Phase 2: Maintenance & Light Repair (Weeks 8–20)
● Tires (mount/balance), batteries, brakes (as approved), alignment basics, minor leak
checks
● Focus: proper procedures, correct parts usage, and clean documentation
Phase 3: Apprentice Technician (Months 5–12)
● Guided main shop exposure: suspension/steering components, cooling system basics,
drivability fundamentals
● Focus: building skill breadth with oversight and quality verification
Phase 4: Main Shop Technician (12+ Months, performance-based)
● Expanded repair work aligned to your strengths and certifications
● Focus: productivity, quality, and long-term career track
Training & Support You Can Expect
● A structured checklist of skills and milestones
● Coaching from shop leadership and senior technicians
● Manufacturer and/or online training opportunities (based on store programs)
● Clear expectations for what it takes to move up
Qualifications
● 0–2 years of technician experience; lube/quick lube experience is a plus
● Strong mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn
● Dependable attendance and a professional, team-first attitude
● Ability to work on your feet all day; lift up to 50 lbs as needed
● Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record
● Basic tools preferred (tool requirements increase as you advance)
Why Join Us
● Real advancement path with defined skill milestones
● Steady workflow in a structured dealership environment
● Leadership that values training, quality work, and technician growth
● Opportunity to build a long-term career in automotive service
Benefits
● Competitive pay with growth potential based on performance
● Medical, dental, and vision coverage options
● Paid time off and paid holidays
● 401(k) retirement plan options
● Employee discounts and dealership perks
● Training and development opportunities
How to Apply
Submit your resume and a brief overview of your experience (or interest in starting a technician
career). Include any relevant training, certifications, or hands-on experience. Qualified
candidates will be contacted for next steps
