Job Description

Developer, Cloud

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Developer, Cloud based in Canada.

This role sits within a cloud infrastructure team responsible for building and operating the foundational platform that enables engineering teams to deploy and run applications safely, reliably, and efficiently.
You will contribute to the design and evolution of internal cloud services that improve developer experience, deployment speed, and system reliability at scale.
Working closely with product engineers and fellow cloud specialists, you will help translate application needs into robust infrastructure solutions.
The role combines hands-on engineering in Kubernetes, infrastructure as code, and CI/CD automation with a strong focus on operational excellence.
You will also play a key part in strengthening platform security, observability, and incident response practices.
This is a highly collaborative environment where your work directly impacts engineering productivity and the stability of critical systems.

Accountabilities:
  • Design, build, and maintain cloud infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform or OpenTofu.
  • Operate and support Kubernetes environments (e.g., Azure-based clusters), including deployments, Helm charts, routing, certificates, and configuration management.
  • Improve and automate CI/CD pipelines to enhance deployment speed, reliability, and developer experience.
  • Contribute to the development of an internal developer platform, including self-service tools, golden paths, and reusable templates.
  • Support observability and incident response processes, including monitoring, logging, alerting, and troubleshooting shared services.
  • Strengthen cloud security practices, including identity management, access control, secrets handling, and network security.
  • Collaborate with product teams to enable efficient use of platform services without requiring deep infrastructure expertise.
  • Write and maintain clear runbooks, documentation, and operational guides for engineering use.
  • Participate in technical design discussions, code reviews, and proactive risk identification.
  • Use AI-assisted tools responsibly for development tasks while ensuring security and validation of outputs.
Requirements:
  • Hands-on experience with at least one major cloud provider (Azure, AWS, or GCP).
  • Strong understanding of core cloud concepts including networking, compute, storage, identity, and secrets management.
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform or OpenTofu.
  • Working knowledge of Kubernetes, including deployments, services, namespaces, and basic production troubleshooting.
  • Experience building or maintaining CI/CD pipelines and automation workflows.
  • Solid understanding of observability concepts such as metrics, logs, traces, and alerting.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate and escalate blockers effectively.
  • Curiosity and resourcefulness in using documentation, peers, and AI tools to solve problems.
  • Experience with Azure technologies such as AKS, Entra ID, RBAC, or Azure networking is a plus.
  • Familiarity with Helm, GitOps, ingress controllers, or service mesh tools is an asset.
  • Exposure to reliability engineering, security scanning tools, or FinOps practices is considered an advantage.
  • Experience in regulated or compliance-heavy environments is a plus.
Benefits:
  • 4 to 6 weeks of paid vacation annually.
  • 5 paid personal days per year.
  • Comprehensive group insurance coverage from day one.
  • Employer-contributed RRSP / DPSP retirement savings plan.
  • Annual wellness allowance.
  • Access to telehealth services (Lumino Health™).
  • Remote or hybrid work flexibility with ongoing work-from-home support.
  • Inclusive and equitable work environment with strong commitment to diversity.
  • Opportunity to work on healthcare-related products with meaningful real-world impact.
  • Exposure to modern platform engineering, DevOps, and developer experience initiatives.
