Our Cardiology service is dedicated to providing exceptional care for patients with complex cardiovascular conditions. Working alongside board-certified specialists and a highly skilled team of veterinary professionals, you'll play a vital role in diagnosing, treating, and improving the quality of life for patients with heart disease.

As a Cardiology Technician, you'll be an integral member of the medical team, providing exceptional nursing care, assisting with advanced diagnostics, monitoring anesthesia and sedation, and supporting patients throughout their recovery process.

Compensation
  • Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT): $24–$34/hour
  • Veterinary Technician Specialist (VTS): $35–$42/hour
Patient Care & Nursing Support
  • Provide comprehensive nursing care for cardiology patients, including treatments, monitoring, patient advocacy, and recovery support.
  • Monitor hospitalized patients and promptly communicate changes in patient status to the medical team.
  • Perform venipuncture, IV catheter placement, medication calculations, medication administration, laboratory sample collection, and diagnostic testing.
  • Obtain and document patient histories, vital signs, and physical assessment findings.
  • Assist with patient preparation and recovery for diagnostic, interventional, and surgical procedures.
  • Ensure patient comfort, cleanliness, and daily husbandry needs are consistently met.
Cardiology Diagnostics & Procedures
  • Assist Cardiologists with advanced diagnostics including echocardiograms, electrocardiograms (ECG/EKG), thoracic radiographs, and Holter monitor placement.
  • Educate clients on home monitoring and Holter monitor use.
  • Assist with chest taps, cardiac interventions, and specialty procedures as directed by the Cardiologist.
  • Prepare and maintain procedure rooms, equipment, and supplies necessary for cardiology services.
  • Support patient flow throughout appointments, procedures, and hospital stays.
Anesthesia & Sedation
  • Monitor and administer anesthesia and sedation for cardiac diagnostics, interventions, and surgical procedures.
  • Utilize sound clinical judgment when monitoring patients with cardiovascular disease.
  • Maintain detailed anesthesia records and communicate concerns to the attending veterinarian.
  • Assist with advanced anesthetic support when appropriate.
Client Communication
  • Provide exceptional client service with professionalism, empathy, and compassion.
  • Educate clients regarding procedures, diagnostics, treatment plans, medications, home monitoring, and discharge care.
  • Communicate effectively with clients both in person and over the phone.
  • Support clients through stressful situations while maintaining a calm and reassuring presence.
Team Collaboration & Equipment Maintenance
  • Collaborate closely with Cardiologists, specialists, technicians, assistants, and client care teams to ensure exceptional patient outcomes.
  • Maintain accurate, complete, and timely medical records in accordance with hospital standards.
  • Clean, maintain, and troubleshoot cardiology equipment including ECG, echocardiography, anesthesia, radiology, and C-Arm equipment.
  • Ensure all surgical and diagnostic equipment is properly maintained, cleaned, sterilized, and operational.
  • Follow OSHA regulations, hospital safety policies, and infection control protocols.
  • Participate in holiday coverage, on-call responsibilities, and schedule adjustments as needed to support hospital operations.
QualificationsRequired
  • Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) credential.
  • Minimum of 2 years of veterinary technician experience.
  • Strong proficiency in venipuncture, peripheral IV catheter placement, patient monitoring, medication administration, and laboratory procedures.
  • Ability to safely lift, restrain, and handle canine and feline patients.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and multitasking skills.
  • Fluency in English (written and verbal).
Preferred
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in a specialty veterinary hospital.
  • Previous experience working within a Cardiology service.
  • Advanced anesthesia monitoring experience.
  • Surgical nursing experience.
  • Experience with echocardiography, ECG monitoring, Holter monitors, and interventional procedures.
  • Bilingual or multilingual communication skills.
