Job Summary

Under general supervision, performs a wide variety of professional level of nursing duties for patients served in the Radiology Department.

Performance: Position Specific Essential Functions

• Adheres to Standards and recommended practices for specific nursing service area(s). Provides a safe supportive environment for surgical/procedural patients and expected practice behaviors based on the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation of nursing interventions and evaluation.
• Documents appropriately in the patient record. Uses professional judgement on pertinence of documentation.
• Ability to identify emergency situations; uses sound judgement in responding to emergencies in a calm and efficient manner.
• Works collaboratively with all team members to include staff, physicians, ancillary departments and patient/families. Demonstrates a positive attitude and good communication.
• Ability to adjust to a varying work load; assume assignments in a positive manner; attend required meetings and in-services; maintain department competencies and certifications; initiative in expanding knowledge of new procedures.
• Understands that attendance affects team morale and confidence. Demonstrates reliability and punctuality in regard to attendance. Consistently is present and ready to begin work activities at start of shift, stays within established break periods, arrives on time for meetings and leaves work area promptly at the conclusion of the shift to reduce potential distractions. Schedules personal appointments or requests adjustment to schedule with least amount of disruption to service delivery. Provides prompt notice for unexpected absences.

Qualifications

Education

• Required
  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent
  • Completion of an accredited program of Nursing
  • Associate’s degree in Nursing
• Preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing

Experience:

• Preferred
  • One or more years of experience in Nursing

Certification/Licensure:

• Required
  • Registered Nurse (RN), with authorization to practice in the State of Texas
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
    • Must obtain within ninety (90) days of start date
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certification
    • Must obtain within one (1) year of start date
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Certification or Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC) Certification
    • Must obtain within one (1) year of start date
• Preferred
  • Certified Radiologic Nurse (CRN) Certification
