This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Workday Extend & Integration Developer based in United States.
This is a fully remote, six-month contract opportunity focused on building scalable applications and integrations within the Workday ecosystem.
You’ll develop custom Workday Extend applications that streamline complex HR operations and reduce manual processes.
The role combines application development, integration architecture, automation, security, testing, and production support.
You’ll work across Workday HCM, Payroll, external payroll platforms, and enterprise systems using modern integration technologies.
Your solutions will help automate HR workflows, support Touchless Payroll initiatives, and improve operational efficiency.
You’ll collaborate closely with Program Managers, Business Systems Analysts, and technical teams to turn business requirements into reliable solutions.
This role is ideal for an experienced Workday developer who enjoys solving complex integration challenges in a collaborative, remote environment.
- Design, develop, test, and deploy custom applications using Workday Extend and App Builder to automate HR workflows, including offboarding and legacy HR system consolidation.
- Build dynamic page layouts, custom business processes, custom objects, field components, and other Extend application capabilities.
- Develop Workday Orchestrations that automate multi-step HR processes and reduce manual intervention.
- Design and implement secure REST APIs, SOAP web services, and integration orchestration flows connecting Workday Extend with Core HCM, Payroll, external systems, and Employee Central Payroll (ECP).
- Develop data validation rules, automated controls, and backend logic supporting Touchless Payroll and other HR automation initiatives.
- Translate functional requirements, process maps, and business needs into scalable Workday Extend and integration architectures in collaboration with Program Managers and Business Systems Analysts.
- Design and maintain integrations using Workday Studio, REST, SOAP, EIBs, PECI, XML, XSLT, and JSON.
- Support User Acceptance Testing by troubleshooting defects, refining business logic, and optimizing application performance.
- Apply Workday security policies, domain security definitions, and user-role configurations to ensure appropriate and compliant access.
- Participate in application testing, deployment, troubleshooting, technical documentation, and ongoing production support.
- Collaborate with cross-functional technical and business teams to deliver reliable solutions that meet functional and operational requirements.
- 4+ years of hands-on experience designing, developing, and deploying applications with Workday Extend.
- 6+ years of overall Workday experience across HCM, Business Process Framework, Custom Reporting, Calculated Fields, and Security Groups.
- Strong hands-on expertise with Workday Extend, including App Builder, Custom Business Processes, and Workday Orchestrations.
- Strong knowledge of Workday architecture, HCM, Payroll, security, business processes, reporting, and integration capabilities.
- Proven experience developing integrations between Workday Extend, Core HCM, Payroll, external payroll platforms, and other enterprise systems.
- Strong proficiency with Workday Studio and integration technologies including REST APIs, SOAP, EIBs, PECI, XML, XSLT, and JSON.
- Solid understanding of web services, data modeling, integration architecture, and object-oriented development principles.
- Experience with Employee Central Payroll (ECP) and Touchless Payroll automation is preferred.
- Experience supporting UAT, defect remediation, performance optimization, deployments, and production environments.
- Ability to translate complex functional requirements into scalable and maintainable technical solutions.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, testing, and problem-solving capabilities.
- Excellent written and verbal English communication skills and the ability to collaborate professionally with diverse stakeholders.
- Workday Extend Certification is preferred, along with Workday Studio and/or Workday Integrations Certification.
- A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Systems, or a related field is preferred; equivalent education, training, and relevant professional experience may be considered.
- Compensation: Expected base salary of $60–$65 per hour, with offers determined by skills, training, experience, education, market factors, and applicable certifications or licensure.
