EQUIPMENT OPERATOR/CDL in Thomasville, Georgia at City of Thomasville

Position Summary:

This employee is responsible for driving vehicles and equipment that require the operator to have a commercial driver’s license.

Essential Duties:

• Drives flat bed and dump truck carrying construction materials and equipment
• Operates tractors, small ditchers, air compressors and pick-up truck
• Performs incidental tasks including digging, brush cutting, and loading or unloading of materials used in the operational process
• May operate in a training capacity or assist in the operation of heavier and more complex equipment
• Service equipment and make minor field repairs and adjustments; report need for major repairs to equipment
• Required to work on call hours required.
• Assist in the installation, repair and maintenance of the Natural Gas system

Knowledge and Skills

• Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Must have a valid Class-A Commercial Driver’s License.
• Must have good written and oral communication skills
• Must have knowledge of terms related to natural gas pipe and fittings
• Should have some skill in the use of common hand tools and equipment

Physical/Environmental Requirements

The environmental working conditions of this position include constantly working outside and very frequently working around hazardous machinery, high and low temperatures. Also, frequently working around low noises and vibrations and occasionally working around wet surroundings, loud noises and working inside. Mental stress of this position is occasional.
