Reports To: Food & Beverage Manager and Food Service Team Lead
Employment Type: Winter Seasonal
Schedule: Full-Time (5+ shifts/week) or Part-Time; must be available weekends and holidays
Job Overview
Food & Beverage Staff play an essential role in providing exceptional guest experiences through the preparation and service of quality food and beverages at Mallory's Café and Bennett's Coffee Shop. Team members work under the supervision of the Food & Beverage Manager and Food & Beverage Staff Team Lead and are responsible for food preparation, beverage service, guest service, cash handling, facility cleanliness, and adherence to all food safety standards.
Whether preparing meals, crafting espresso beverages, maintaining a clean dining environment, or assisting guests at the point of sale, Food & Beverage Team Members help create a welcoming and memorable experience for all visitors.
Essential Job Functions
(Other duties may be assigned.)
Food Preparation & Beverage Service
- Prepare and cook food items according to established recipes, portion guidelines, and quality standards.
- Monitor food presentation, temperatures, and portion sizes to ensure consistency.
- Prepare and serve specialty coffee beverages, including lattes, gourmet hot chocolate, and other hot and cold drinks.
- Assist with food preparation for daily service, including stocking ingredients and preparing items for cooking and serving.
- Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently.
- Follow all recipes, food handling procedures, and service standards.
Guest Service & Point of Sale Operations
- Provide friendly, professional, and efficient guest service.
- Greet guests and assist with menu selections and questions.
- Accurately process guest orders using the Point of Sale (POS) system.
- Handle cash and electronic transactions according to company procedures.
- Close and balance POS terminals and cash drawers while completing all required sales documentation.
Opening & Closing Procedures
Opening Duties
- Prepare kitchen and service areas for daily operations.
- Start fryers and other kitchen equipment as needed.
- Prepare coffee makers, hot chocolate equipment, and beverage stations.
- Stock coolers, snack displays, condiment stations, napkins, and utensils.
- Ensure all service areas are clean, organized, and fully stocked.
Closing Duties
- Shut down kitchen equipment according to established procedures.
- Properly store, label, and date food products.
- Clean and sanitize kitchen equipment, food preparation surfaces, and service areas.
- Sweep and mop kitchen floors.
- Clean and organize dining areas, including tables, counters, and guest service stations.
- Complete daily closing cash and POS procedures.
Receiving & Stocking Deliveries
- Assist with receiving deliveries and verifying items against delivery documentation.
- Organize and properly store food, beverage, and supply deliveries according to established food safety and storage guidelines.
- Stock inventory in designated storage areas, coolers, and service stations.
- Notify management of any damaged, missing, or incorrect items received.
Sanitation, Safety & Facility Maintenance
- Follow all local, state, and company food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety standards.
- Maintain proper personal hygiene and safe food handling practices.
- Ensure food is stored, labeled, rotated, and dated correctly.
- Clean and sanitize kitchen equipment, preparation stations, dining areas, and food service areas.
- Perform routine dining area cleaning, including vacuuming, wiping tables and counters, emptying trash, and maintaining guest spaces.
- Restock restroom supplies as needed and maintain a clean, presentable appearance by wiping sinks, counters, and mirrors.
- Report restroom maintenance or cleaning needs to management as appropriate.
Teamwork & Support
- Assist team members during busy periods to ensure efficient operations.
- Work collaboratively with other departments as needed throughout the ski area.
- Maintain a positive and professional attitude with guests and coworkers.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- General knowledge of food preparation and kitchen operations.
- Basic computer skills and ability to learn POS systems.
- Ability to communicate effectively with guests, coworkers, and supervisors.
- Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions.
- Strong customer service skills and a positive attitude.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Dependable, organized, and detail-oriented.
Education & Experience
- Must be at least 16 years of age. Applicants age 14-15 may be considered for limited positions and schedules where permitted by law.
- Previous food service, kitchen, café, coffee shop, or customer service experience preferred but not required.
- Training will be provided.
- Must have reliable transportation to and from the ski area.
- Must be available to work evenings, weekends, and holidays throughout the winter season.

- Regularly required to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Frequently required to bend, reach, lift, carry, push, and pull.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 30 pounds regularly and more with assistance.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Work Environment
- Indoor kitchen and coffee shop environment.
- Frequent exposure to hot equipment, cooking surfaces, steam, and cleaning products.
- Occasional exposure to cold storage areas and outdoor weather conditions while stocking deliveries or removing trash.
- Moderate to loud noise levels during peak operating periods.
