This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Research Specialist, Senior – School of Medicine Orthopaedics based in the United States.

This role sits at the intersection of advanced laboratory research and translational medical science within a leading academic environment focused on orthopaedic innovation. The Research Specialist will independently design, execute, and refine complex experimental procedures that support cutting-edge biomedical studies. Accountabilities:
  • Design, perform, and independently execute complex laboratory experiments and advanced research procedures using specialized scientific techniques and equipment.
  • Develop and refine research methodologies, contributing to protocol design and optimization to enhance study accuracy and efficiency.
  • Analyze, interpret, and document experimental data, translating findings into meaningful scientific insights and reports.
  • Serve as a technical expert and resource for research staff, providing guidance on specialized procedures and laboratory best practices.
  • Train and mentor junior researchers on experimental techniques, theoretical concepts, and laboratory protocols.
  • Review scientific literature to stay current on emerging methodologies and incorporate relevant advancements into ongoing research.
  • Support preparation of research publications, presentations, charts, and visual materials for dissemination of findings.
  • Contribute to grant and funding application development through technical input and supporting documentation.
  • Oversee quality assurance processes to ensure accuracy, reproducibility, and compliance in research activities conducted by the team.
  • Recommend improvements in laboratory processes, equipment, and materials to enhance research performance.
  • Ensure proper handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous materials in accordance with safety standards and regulations.
  • Support departmental objectives and contribute to the continuous advancement of research programs and initiatives.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in a scientific field and a minimum of 4 years of research experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Advanced hands-on experience conducting complex laboratory experiments and working with specialized research equipment.
  • Strong understanding of research design, experimental methodologies, and data analysis techniques in a biomedical or related scientific field.
  • Ability to independently interpret research findings and contribute to scientific publications or presentations.
  • Experience mentoring or training research staff in laboratory procedures and scientific concepts.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to document and present complex scientific information clearly.
  • Familiarity with laboratory safety protocols, including handling of hazardous materials and compliance standards.
  • Ability to review scientific literature and translate insights into practical research applications.
  • Preferred: Master’s degree or engineering background (mechanical, biomedical, or related disciplines).
  • Strong attention to detail, problem-solving ability, and capacity to work in a highly technical and collaborative academic environment.
  • Ability to work primarily on-site with occasional flexibility depending on departmental discretion.
