Melt Furnace Tender in Creston, Iowa at Wellman Dynamics Division

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION: High School diploma or equivalency preferred

EXPERIENCE: On the job training provided, Previous manufacturing or foundry experience preferred

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

Must have good vision, hearing, and hand-eye coordination. Must be able to follow written work instructions. Must be able to multitask and meet production goals and deadlines. Must be team-oriented and have good communication skills. Must have great attention to detail. Must be able to lift 50lbs on a regular basis. Must be able to grip, push, and pull with 80lb strength on a regular basis. Must be able to generate 15lbs of pinch strength on occasion. Must be able to pass a pre-employment physical. Must be able to perform elevated work on an occasional basis. Some tasks require repetitive activities. Must be able to stand on concrete up to 8 hours. Must be willing to cross-train within the classification. Must be able to follow all safety rules and wear all required personal protective equipment. Must be able to work in high heat temperatures all year around. Must be able to maintain a clean workstation and clean equipment. Must be able to work in a team environment.

SPECIFIC DUTIES:

• To melt magnesium and aluminum metals to meet alloy specifications
• Adding alloys and hardeners per work instructions
• Following time and temperature restraints set forth by Engineering
• To pour hot metal into molds as assigned to produce castings to meet the metal temperature requirements and the customers’ specifications
• Responsible for keeping the alloy tools and the furnace areas clean and dross segregated
• To work in a team to ensure the melt pouring processes goes smoothly
• Must be able to understand and read temperature gauges and identify different molds to know which alloys and metals will be poured into each mold
