Job Description

Description:

Position Summary

The Cleanroom Technician II is a skilled, dependable contributor to the manufacture of multilayer ceramic capacitors. This role independently prepares ceramic slurries, sets up and operates assigned equipment, verifies process conditions, and protects product quality in a controlled cleanroom environment. The technician identifies process and equipment issues early, documents work accurately, and serves as a technical resource for other technicians. The role follows approved procedures and escalates decisions outside its authority to the appropriate lead, Engineering, or Quality team.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare ceramic slurry batches to approved formulas; verify material identity, quantities, mixing sequence, equipment status, and required batch measurements before moving the batch to the next operation under the approved workflow.

• Set up, change over, operate, and monitor assigned cleanroom production equipment. Verify recipe settings and process parameters against the applicable traveler, work instruction, and specification before starting and during production.

• Perform and record in-process measurements and inspections using approved instruments and methods. Interpret results, recognize trends or out-of-specification conditions, and promptly stop, contain, and escalate affected work according to procedure.

• Troubleshoot first-line process and equipment issues using observations, alarms, data, and technical documentation. Complete authorized adjustments and minor maintenance; coordinate more complex repairs or process changes with Maintenance and Engineering.

• Maintain complete, timely, and traceable batch, lot, equipment, and inspection records. Reconcile material use and product status, and provide clear shift handoffs on open issues and next actions.

• Apply gowning, cleaning, material transfer, and contamination-control requirements consistently. Identify sources of contamination and help investigate recurring defects or process variation.

• Perform assigned equipment cleaning, setup checks, and preventive maintenance; confirm readiness of tools and instruments and report overdue calibration, damage, or unsafe conditions before use.

• Support investigations, trials, and process improvements by collecting reliable data, documenting observations, and implementing approved corrective actions or revised work instructions.

• Train and guide Cleanroom Technician I employees on approved procedures, safe equipment operation, documentation, and quality checks; reinforce standards and raise training gaps to the supervisor.

• Plan and complete assigned work reliably, communicate delays or risks early, and support production priorities without bypassing safety, quality, or cleanroom controls.

Requirements:

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent and demonstrated proficiency in cleanroom manufacturing or a closely related controlled production process.

• Strong hands-on technical skills in equipment setup, process monitoring, basic troubleshooting, and accurate use of measurements and production data.

• Ability to read and apply detailed work instructions, process specifications, batch records, and equipment documentation; sound math skills and attention to detail.

• Consistent record of dependable attendance, careful follow-through, timely escalation, clear communication, and sound judgment under production demands.

• Ability to read and write in English to use work instructions, maintain records, and communicate safety and quality information.

• Must qualify as a U.S. person under 22 C.F.R. § 120.62 because this position requires access to export-controlled work.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with ceramic slurry preparation, multilayer ceramic capacitor production, or other electronics or materials processes.

• Experience with process data review, in-process inspection, contamination control, equipment maintenance, and training other technicians.
