Job Description
About Plexus
Legal protects 90% of enterprise value. In most organisations, it’s still slow, expensive, and stretched impossibly thin — one lawyer for every 500 employees. Nine out of ten legal tasks go unsupported.
Plexus is the Legal Operating System for the modern enterprise. We help in-house legal teams automate and scale legal work across the business — faster, with less cost, and less risk.
We’re trusted by Coca-Cola, Nike, L’Oréal, PepsiCo, Woolworths, and Asahi. Our clients report 65% productivity gains.
We’re not a law firm. We’re not a traditional software company. We’re building something new — and we’re not done yet.
What this role is:
We need a Lawyer who owns some of our most interesting and complex work: multi-jurisdictional trade promotions, high-risk advertising campaigns, novel regulatory questions, and the client relationships that come with them.
You'll carry a portfolio of enterprise clients, mentor junior lawyers, and set the quality standard the rest of the team is measured against.
This isn't a role where you supervise from a distance. You're on the tools, in the work, advising clients directly — GC-level conversations, not just transactional delivery.
We're flexible on structure. We're not flexible on expertise.
Full-time, part-time, or contractor. Hybrid or fully remote. We'll build the arrangement around the right person.
What's non-negotiable is deep, demonstrated experience in trade promotions, advertising and marketing law, and competition and consumer law. Not a rotation years ago. Not adjacent experience. The real thing — built through years of practice.
AI makes your expertise go further
At Plexus, AI is embedded in how legal work is delivered. It handles the first pass — drafting, research, precedent analysis, consistency checks. You handle the judgment.
You don't need to be an AI expert. You need to be pragmatic about using tools that make a senior lawyer's expertise go further, faster. The combination of your depth and AI's leverage is what makes this model work — and it's why you'll handle a portfolio that would be impossible in a traditional firm.
What we need:
- 5+ years PQE with genuine depth in trade promotions, advertising law, and competition and consumer law — this is non-negotiable
- Proven track record managing senior client relationships — GC, Head of Legal, senior marketing leaders
- Trade promotions expertise at volume — permit conditions, T&Cs, multi-jurisdictional complexity
- Open to using AI as part of your daily practice — not an evangelist, just pragmatic
- Commercially sharp — your advice finds the way through, not just flags the risk
- Low ego — thrives in a non-hierarchical environment, comfortable mentoring and being mentored
What we're not looking for:
- Someone who wants to manage rather than do the work
- Someone who insists on how things were done at their last firm
- Someone who sees AI as a threat rather than the thing that makes their expertise more valuable
What you get:
The work you're best at — without the overhead, politics, and inefficiency. Enterprise clients who value your counsel. A team to mentor and a practice to shape. Flexibility that works for your life. And a front-row seat to how AI is transforming legal delivery — with your expertise at the centre of it.
Both done. Want me to adjust either, or are we moving on?
