Job Description
Serving Arkansas with excellence for over 50 years, Klaasmeyer Construction Company is looking our next Trenching Crew - Laborer to join the Field Operations team. We're hiring our next Laborer to support our digging and trenching crews. You'll hand dig around existing utilities, lay conduit in the trench, and restore the ground after excavation. The crew counts on the laborer to keep things moving — that's what this job is about.
Requirements:What You'll Be Doing
- Hand digging around existing underground utilities in congested areas where the excavator can't go
- Potholing to expose and verify utility locations before the Equipment Operator gets close
- Laying and installing conduit and innerduct — fittings, couplings, grade, and alignment
- Backfilling, compacting, and restoring the ground surface to pre-construction condition
- Spotting equipment, setting up traffic control, and supporting the crew throughout the day
What We Need From You
- Ability to perform sustained hard physical labor in all weather conditions — shoveling, lifting, and moving materials all day
- Reliable — shows up on time and works the full day
- Safety aware — follows rules around equipment and underground utilities
- Prior construction or general labor experience preferred; willing to train the right person
- Valid driver's license preferred
The Physical Reality
This is one of the most physically demanding jobs on our crews — shoveling, lifting conduit, tamping backfill, and working on your feet in all weather for the full shift every day. If you're physically capable and not afraid of that kind of work, this is a great opportunity to get your foot in the door with a growing telecom construction company.
- High-volume hand digging and shoveling throughout the workday
- Lifting and carrying conduit, tools, and materials up to 50 lbs. repeatedly
- Bending, kneeling, and working in and around open trenches
- Outdoor work in all weather — full days, every day
- Work is primarily local and regional. Out-of-state project travel may be required — when it is, per diem and accommodations are covered by the company.
