This is a high-impact, mission-driven role focused on shaping and securing new defense opportunities in air defense and counter-unmanned aerial systems (C-UAS). You will operate at the intersection of strategy, customer engagement, and technical solutioning, translating U.S. Army operational needs into actionable business opportunities. The role involves deep collaboration with engineering, mission modeling, and capture teams to build winning strategies grounded in real-world threat environments. You will engage directly with senior defense stakeholders, acquisition leaders, and operators to influence requirements and positioning. As a foundational hire, you will help define how Army growth strategy is built and executed. The environment is fast-paced, highly technical, and rooted in national security priorities, requiring both strategic judgment and operational execution excellence.
- Lead Army-focused business development for air defense and C-UAS opportunities, driving pipeline growth through strategic engagement, opportunity identification, and capture support across complex defense programs.
- Conduct continuous market and opportunity research, including monitoring federal acquisition channels and analyzing emerging Army programs, competitor activity, and evolving mission needs.
- Engage directly with acquisition professionals and operators within the U.S. Army ecosystem to understand requirements, translate mission needs into engineering inputs, and shape solution strategy.
- Partner with capture and engineering teams to build win strategies, define value propositions, and develop persuasive narratives for proposals, white papers, and solicitations.
- Lead customer engagement activities including meetings, industry days, and conferences, representing the organization as a trusted defense technology partner.
- Influence product roadmap priorities by translating Army operational needs into capability requirements and feeding them into mission and product engineering teams.
- Support proposal development and end-to-end opportunity qualification, including probability-of-win analysis and strategic teaming decisions.
- 5+ years of experience in U.S. Army acquisitions, defense business development, or capture roles within defense technology or government contracting environments.
- Strong understanding of federal procurement processes, including FAR, acquisition lifecycle management, and non-traditional contracting pathways.
- Proven success in developing and winning multi-million-dollar defense programs, including proposal writing, market analysis, and capture strategy execution.
- Deep familiarity with Army operational domains, ideally within air defense or counter-UAS mission sets, including sensing and effects systems.
- Excellent communication and executive presentation skills, with experience engaging senior military leaders and government stakeholders.
- Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills, with the ability to assess market dynamics, competitive positioning, and probability of win.
- Eligibility to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance is required.
- Competitive base salary in the range of $160,000–$220,000, plus potential equity and performance-based compensation
- Comprehensive health coverage including medical, dental, and vision insurance (often fully or partially employer-paid depending on package)
- 401(k) plan with employer matching, along with additional financial wellness benefits (FSA/HSA options)
- Unlimited PTO and flexible work policies depending on location and mission needs
- Daily office perks including meals and a collaborative, mission-focused work environment (for onsite roles)
- Pre-IPO equity opportunities and relocation assistance where applicable
- Exposure to cutting-edge defense technology programs supporting national security missions.
