Job Description
This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Principal Cloud DX Software Engineer (CI/CD) based in the United States.
This is a principal-level engineering opportunity focused on shaping the next generation of cloud-native software delivery at global scale.
You will own the architecture and evolution of CI/CD and configuration management across a growing fleet of production environments.
The role combines deep hands-on engineering with organization-wide technical influence and strategic decision-making.
You will help enable hundreds of engineers to deploy microservices safely, quickly, and consistently across Kubernetes environments.
Your work will establish standards for GitOps, progressive delivery, automated rollbacks, and self-service developer experiences.
You will collaborate closely with platform, security, compliance, and engineering leaders across a distributed organization.
You will also champion AI-assisted engineering workflows that improve developer productivity, delivery quality, and operational efficiency.
- Own the architecture and technical direction of CI/CD and configuration management across a large-scale production fleet, ensuring delivery systems remain reliable, secure, scalable, and predictable.
- Design templated, repeatable processes for provisioning new production environments, enabling teams to expand into new regions and isolated deployments without significant operational overhead.
- Define reference architectures and performance profiles appropriate for different Kubernetes cluster sizes and deployment environments.
- Establish scalable solutions for managing version skew, release cadence, and software delivery across environments operating at different speeds.
- Set and promote best practices for progressive delivery, including canary releases, automated rollbacks, safe-by-default deployments, and trunk-based development.
- Build self-service “paved paths” that allow product engineering teams to deploy applications without requiring deep platform expertise.
- Own delivery performance end-to-end, continuously improving pipeline reliability, speed, observability, and predictability.
- Evolve the Internal Developer Portal and surrounding self-service tooling to improve the developer experience and simplify software delivery.
- Partner with Cloud Platform, Security, and Compliance teams to ensure delivery workflows meet required security, governance, and regulatory controls.
- Provide technical leadership across the organization, influencing architecture and engineering practices while mentoring Staff and Senior Engineers.
- Embed AI-powered tools and workflows into the software development lifecycle to drive lasting improvements in engineering velocity, quality, and developer experience.
- Demonstrated experience in Platform Engineering with a strong focus on CI/CD within organizations of 250+ engineers.
- Proven experience owning and operating CI/CD platforms at both the administrative and architectural levels, including security, configuration management, and developer enablement.
- Deep expertise with GitOps and declarative configuration at scale, combined with experience designing and operating large-scale software delivery systems.
- Strong hands-on software engineering background with experience delivering production-quality software.
- Practical experience with cloud-native architectures and Kubernetes-based platforms.
- Strong understanding and enthusiasm for progressive delivery practices, including canary deployments and automated rollbacks.
- Demonstrated ability to establish technical direction, influence senior engineers and engineering leaders, and drive adoption of new standards across multiple teams.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across distributed teams and time zones.
- Genuine interest in AI-assisted engineering and a track record or strong motivation to use AI tools to improve engineering productivity, quality, and developer workflows.
- Experience launching new production regions or isolated deployments end-to-end is a plus.
- Background spanning both product software engineering and platform engineering is advantageous.
- Working knowledge of RBAC, OAuth, and compliance frameworks such as SOC 2, ISO 27001, and GDPR is preferred.
- Strong ability to balance technical depth with organization-wide business and operational priorities.
- Base salary range of $246,000–$339,000 USD, with the final offer determined by factors including experience, expertise, location, and other relevant considerations.
- Potential performance-based bonus and equity opportunities.
- Generous employee benefits program.
- Opportunity to work on large-scale cloud infrastructure and developer platforms used by a globally distributed engineering organization.
- High-impact principal-level role with significant influence over engineering architecture, practices, and developer experience.
- Collaborative environment working with senior engineers, engineering leaders, security, cloud platform, and compliance teams.
- Opportunity to advance AI-assisted software development practices across the organization.
