Position SummaryThe Site Buyer is responsible for sourcing, purchasing, and coordinating materials and services that support daily plant operations and production requirements. This role manages procurement activities across a broad range of direct and indirect spend categories, including raw materials, outsourced processing, tooling, MRO, consumables, production support items, and operational supplies.
The Site Buyer partners closely with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, Supply Chain, Quality, and Procurement leadership to ensure material availability, supplier performance, cost discipline, and timely execution of purchasing activities. This role serves as a key operational procurement resource within a fast-paced aerospace manufacturing environment and plays a critical role in maintaining continuity of operations.
Key ResponsibilitiesProcurement & Purchasing- Source and procure materials, services, tooling, outsourced processing, MRO items, consumables, and operational supplies to support plant requirements.
- Manage purchase orders from requisition through delivery and receipt resolution.
- Coordinate with internal stakeholders to understand operational requirements, timelines, and priorities.
- Expedite orders and resolve supply disruptions to support operational continuity and customer delivery commitments.
- Support procurement activities related to production, maintenance, engineering, tooling, and capital projects.
- Source and manage suppliers in alignment with company procurement strategies and business requirements.
- Negotiate pricing, lead times, delivery schedules, and commercial terms within assigned authority levels.
- Monitor supplier performance and address delivery, quality, pricing, or service concerns.
- Partner with suppliers to improve responsiveness, reliability, and overall operational support.
- Support RFQs, supplier evaluations, and sourcing initiatives as needed.
- Support inventory management activities to maintain appropriate stock levels while minimizing excess and obsolete inventory.
- Partner with Operations, Maintenance, and Supply Chain teams to understand material usage trends and operational needs.
- Assist with managing critical material shortages, supplier constraints, and schedule impacts.
- Support inventory accuracy initiatives and material planning coordination.
- Maintain accurate supplier, pricing, and item master data within ERP systems.
- Ensure procurement activities comply with company policies, procedures, and internal controls.
- Support procurement reporting, spend tracking, and cost reduction initiatives.
- Assist with procurement audits, documentation requests, and compliance activities.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements, standardization, and operational efficiency.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Minimum 5-7 years of purchasing, procurement, buying, or supply chain experience in manufacturing environment.
- Experience handling vendor contracts in excess of $1.5MM required.
- Demonstrated ability to support cost reduction, spend management, and operational efficiency initiatives.
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced operational environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and ERP systems.
- Legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
- Must meet U.S. person requirements under ITAR regulations.
