This is an exciting leadership opportunity for an experienced collections professional to shape and drive the collections strategy of a fast-growing financial services organization serving small businesses across multiple markets. In this role, you will oversee collections operations, optimize recovery performance, and lead cross-functional initiatives that balance commercial outcomes with exceptional customer experience. Working closely with teams across operations, risk, compliance, finance, legal, product, and data, you will play a critical role in strengthening portfolio performance and operational efficiency. - Lead and develop a growing team of collections managers and specialists operating across multiple locations, fostering a culture of accountability, performance, and continuous improvement.
- Define and execute the collections strategy across various lending and credit portfolios, ensuring optimal recovery outcomes while maintaining fair customer treatment and regulatory compliance.
- Collaborate with senior stakeholders across operations, risk, compliance, finance, legal, product, and data functions to align collections initiatives with broader business objectives.
- Drive process improvements, automation initiatives, and operational efficiencies to enhance both customer experience and collections performance.
- Oversee relationships with external debt collection agencies, monitor performance, evaluate partnerships, and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Leverage data, reporting, and analytics to monitor portfolio performance, identify trends, support decision-making, and drive measurable results.
- Establish and track key operational metrics, including recovery rates, KPIs, KRIs, SLAs, forecasting, budgeting, and resource planning.
- Support talent development initiatives by partnering with people teams to attract, develop, and retain top collections professionals.
- Promote a customer-centric collections philosophy that balances effective recovery strategies with empathy, vulnerability awareness, and industry best practices.
- Extensive experience leading collections operations within consumer lending, SME lending, banking, fintech, or related financial services environments.
- Strong expertise in collections, recoveries, and portfolio management, ideally including unsecured and government-backed lending products.
- Proven track record of designing and executing successful collections strategies that improve recovery rates while maintaining positive customer outcomes.
- Demonstrated leadership experience managing teams, setting strategic direction, and delivering results in fast-paced, evolving organizations.
- Experience working with outsourced collections providers and third-party debt collection agencies.
- Deep understanding of collections-related risks, regulatory requirements, and mitigation strategies.
- Strong analytical and data-driven mindset with experience using performance metrics, forecasting models, budgeting, and operational reporting.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with product, technology, and data teams to influence systems, processes, and customer journeys.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and change leadership skills.
- Experience in fintech, digital banking, or high-growth technology-driven organizations is highly desirable.
