This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Manager, Risk Operations - Travel in the United States.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced risk and fraud operations leader to shape and strengthen the integrity of a rapidly growing travel marketplace. In this role, you will oversee fraud prevention strategies across hotel and flight transactions, balancing customer experience, operational efficiency, and risk mitigation. You will work cross-functionally with Product, Engineering, Finance, Data, and Compliance teams to develop scalable systems and optimize transaction security throughout the full booking lifecycle. The position offers significant ownership and strategic influence, allowing you to drive initiatives that directly impact business growth and customer trust. Ideal candidates are analytical, collaborative, and experienced in high-volume transaction ecosystems, with a passion for building secure and seamless user experiences. This remote-first role also provides the flexibility and resources to thrive in a fast-paced, innovation-driven environment.

Accountabilities:
  • Lead fraud prevention and risk management initiatives across travel-related transactions, including hotel and flight bookings.
  • Design, implement, and optimize risk strategies throughout the transaction lifecycle, from pre-checkout and authorization to post-booking disputes and chargebacks.
  • Develop scalable fraud detection systems, rules engines, and operational controls to minimize fraud losses while maintaining strong customer conversion rates.
  • Partner closely with cross-functional teams including Product, Engineering, Data, Finance, and Compliance to improve transaction integrity and customer experience.
  • Investigate and mitigate complex fraud patterns such as card-not-present fraud, refund abuse, account misuse, identity attacks, and friendly fraud.
  • Establish and monitor key risk performance indicators including fraud rates, approval rates, and chargeback metrics to support data-driven business decisions.
  • Create and maintain operational playbooks, processes, and standard operating procedures to improve risk management efficiency and scalability.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of risk analysts while fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and analytical excellence.
Requirements:
  • 5+ years of experience in fraud, risk operations, payments, or transaction integrity within high-scale eCommerce, fintech, marketplace, or travel environments.
  • Proven expertise managing fraud and risk challenges across complex transaction ecosystems and customer-facing digital platforms.
  • At least 2 years of leadership or people management experience with a track record of developing successful teams.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with hands-on experience using SQL, BI tools, or data visualization platforms such as Looker or Tableau.
  • Experience building or optimizing fraud prevention systems, real-time decisioning tools, vendor integrations, or rules-based risk frameworks.
  • Deep understanding of card-not-present fraud, chargebacks, disputes, identity verification, and customer abuse prevention.
  • Ability to work effectively in ambiguous, fast-moving environments while influencing cross-functional stakeholders and driving strategic initiatives.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills with the ability to translate data insights into actionable business recommendations.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, or a related field preferred; advanced degrees or certifications such as CPFPP, CAMS, or CFE are considered a plus.
  • Previous experience in travel, marketplace, or payments infrastructure environments is highly valued.
Benefits:
  • Fully remote-first work environment with flexible schedules and global work-from-anywhere opportunities.
  • Unlimited paid time off, company recharge days, and annual team offsites.
  • Competitive compensation package including salary, equity options, annual bonuses, and retirement matching.
  • Comprehensive healthcare and benefits coverage.
  • Generous parental leave and flexible return-to-work support for growing families.
  • Weekly lifestyle perks including meal credits and travel-related discounts.
  • Wellness budgets, personal development funds, and learning resources to support career growth.
  • Opportunity to work in a collaborative, fast-growing, and innovation-focused environment with high impact and ownership.
