Medical Science Liaison

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Medical Science Liaison based in the United States.

This field-based role offers the opportunity to serve as a scientific expert supporting advances in oncology and precision medicine.
You will build trusted relationships with healthcare providers and key opinion leaders while sharing impactful clinical insights.
The position focuses on educating medical professionals about innovative diagnostic technologies and evidence-based solutions.
You will play a key role in connecting scientific research, clinical practice, and patient care decisions.
Working independently across your territory, you will collaborate with internal teams to support strategic medical initiatives.
This role requires scientific expertise, strong communication skills, and the ability to translate complex data into meaningful clinical conversations.
You will contribute directly to improving disease management through accurate, timely, and compliant medical engagement.

Accountabilities:

The Medical Science Liaison will act as a trusted scientific partner for oncology professionals, providing clinical education, gathering field insights, and supporting medical initiatives while maintaining scientific integrity and compliance.

  • Establish and maintain strong scientific relationships with oncology healthcare providers, researchers, and key opinion leaders within an assigned territory.
  • Deliver accurate, balanced, and clinically relevant education on oncology diagnostics, molecular testing, and supporting clinical evidence.
  • Execute territory plans aligned with Medical Affairs priorities, adapting quickly to evolving scientific and clinical needs.
  • Identify and communicate insights from the field, including treatment trends, unmet patient needs, competitive developments, and emerging opportunities.
  • Respond to unsolicited medical inquiries with timely, compliant, and scientifically rigorous information.
  • Support advisory boards, medical education programs, clinical initiatives, and other Medical Affairs activities.
  • Maintain deep expertise in oncology disease areas, clinical research, and the evolving molecular diagnostics landscape.
  • Collaborate with commercial, clinical, and cross-functional teams while ensuring scientific independence and integrity.
  • Support clinical trial activities and research collaborations with academic institutions and regional study sites.
  • Track field engagement activities and document actionable insights that support strategic decision-making.
  • Travel extensively across the assigned territory (approximately 60–70%) for healthcare provider engagement, conferences, and scientific meetings.
  • Participate in required compliance, privacy, and security training while maintaining ongoing organizational requirements.
Requirements:

The ideal candidate brings advanced scientific knowledge, healthcare expertise, and the ability to communicate complex clinical information effectively to diverse medical audiences.

  • Advanced healthcare or scientific degree preferred (Ph.D., Pharm.D., M.D., D.N.P.), with a minimum of a Master’s degree required.
  • Prior Medical Affairs or Medical Science Liaison experience, preferably within oncology, molecular diagnostics, biotechnology, or a related healthcare field.
  • Ability to establish credible, collaborative relationships with healthcare professionals, researchers, and internal stakeholders.
  • Strong understanding of clinical data, genetic testing technologies, oncology treatment pathways, and scientific research principles.
  • Ability to explain complex scientific concepts clearly and accurately without relying on excessive technical jargon.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage specialized medical audiences.
  • Ability to work independently in a remote, field-based environment while maintaining strong collaboration with internal teams.
  • High level of ownership, accountability, adaptability, and scientific judgment when managing priorities and unexpected challenges.
  • Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced environment with evolving clinical and strategic needs.
  • Must reside within the assigned territory and be comfortable with frequent travel.
