This is a high-impact People Operations leadership role responsible for building and scaling the operational backbone of a fast-growing, high-performance organization. You will oversee core HR infrastructure including payroll, benefits, compliance, employment taxes, HR systems, immigration coordination, and global workforce operations across multiple regions. The role combines strategic ownership with hands-on execution, ensuring People Ops processes remain accurate, scalable, and compliant as the organization grows. You will also lead a distributed operations team, providing structure, coaching, and clear priorities to support high-quality service delivery. Partnering closely with HRBPs, Finance, Legal, and external vendors, you will help shape a seamless employee experience powered by strong systems and automation. This is a highly operational, detail-oriented role in a fast-moving environment where precision, scalability, and continuous improvement are essential.
- Lead and scale end-to-end People Operations functions including payroll, benefits administration, HR compliance, and global workforce operations.
- Manage a distributed People Ops team, providing coaching, prioritization, and operational oversight to ensure high-quality execution.
- Own payroll operations, including tax compliance, reporting, and coordination across multi-state and international populations.
- Oversee benefits programs, vendor relationships, and open enrollment processes in collaboration with external partners.
- Ensure HR systems integrity, driving automation, data accuracy, and scalable workflows across HRIS platforms.
- Manage global employment operations including EOR partnerships, immigration workflows, and employment lifecycle processes.
- Maintain compliance across federal, state, and local regulations while ensuring audit readiness and risk mitigation.
- 7+ years of experience in People Operations, HR Operations, or similar roles with ownership of payroll, benefits, and compliance.
- Experience in a high-growth startup environment, ideally scaling from ~150 to 350+ employees.
- Proven ability to manage distributed or offshore teams with strong operational leadership skills.
- Deep understanding of multi-state employment laws, payroll systems, and HR compliance frameworks.
- Experience working with external vendors such as payroll providers, EOR platforms, and immigration counsel.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- High attention to detail, strong judgment, and ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.
- Bonus: experience with HRIS systems, automation tools, and platforms such as Deel, Remote, or Rippling.
- Competitive base salary ranging from $150,000 to $200,000 USD, plus equity opportunities.
