Job Description

Senior Principal Technical Solution Architect

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Principal Technical Solution Architect based in United States.

The Senior Principal Technical Solution Architect will lead the design and execution of advanced software architectures for next-generation humanoid robotics applications.
This role sits at the intersection of robotics, artificial intelligence, embedded systems, cloud platforms, and physical hardware.
You will drive critical technical decisions, define scalable platforms, and transform innovative concepts into reliable production solutions.
The position requires a strong systems mindset, combining deep engineering expertise with strategic architectural leadership.
You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to solve complex challenges involving AI, robotics frameworks, hardware constraints, and real-world deployment.
This is an opportunity to shape the future of intelligent machines while contributing to a fast-moving, innovation-driven environment.

Accountabilities:

The Senior Principal Technical Solution Architect will own the end-to-end technical vision for humanoid robotics software platforms, ensuring scalable, reliable, and production-ready solutions. This role combines architecture leadership, hands-on engineering expertise, and team mentorship to accelerate the development of advanced robotic systems.

  • Design and own scalable, modular software architectures for humanoid robot applications across robotics, AI, cloud, and edge environments.
  • Define technical strategies and select appropriate robotics frameworks, SDKs, operating systems, and development platforms.
  • Lead architecture decisions involving robotic operating systems, AI infrastructure, deployment models, and distributed software systems.
  • Collaborate with hardware, mechanical, and electrical engineering teams to optimize system performance, including latency, compute resources, thermal constraints, battery usage, and power efficiency.
  • Develop reusable software platforms and application frameworks that support multiple robotic form factors and deployment scenarios.
  • Define the integration strategy for foundation models, agentic AI systems, multimodal intelligence, memory architectures, and reasoning engines within robotic applications.
  • Guide proof-of-concepts into production-ready deployments by ensuring reliability, observability, maintainability, security, and operational readiness.
  • Partner with robotics manufacturers, technology providers, and internal engineering teams to deliver high-impact solutions.
  • Lead, mentor, and support engineering teams by providing technical direction, removing blockers, and promoting engineering excellence.
  • Contribute to product strategy and platform evolution by identifying opportunities for innovation and technical improvement.
Requirements:

The ideal candidate brings extensive experience architecting complex cyber-physical systems and leading engineering initiatives within robotics, AI, automation, or other advanced technology environments. This role requires deep technical expertise, strong leadership capabilities, and the ability to translate emerging technologies into practical solutions.

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Robotics, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • 8+ years of experience working in robotics, autonomous systems, industrial automation, physical AI, or complex cyber-physical environments.
  • Proven experience designing and delivering software architectures for intelligent systems operating under real-world constraints.
  • Deep understanding of robotics technologies, including navigation and localization (SLAM, Nav2), manipulation and motion planning (MoveIt2), perception pipelines, sensor fusion, robot middleware, DDS communication, and distributed robotics architectures.
  • Advanced programming expertise in C++ (17/20) and Python, with experience designing robust software systems.
  • Strong knowledge of Linux environments (Ubuntu/Debian), containerized deployments, and embedded computing platforms.
  • Experience designing systems that address compute limitations, thermal management, battery optimization, network reliability, and safety requirements.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience managing or mentoring engineering teams in startup, R&D, robotics, or fast-paced product development environments.
  • Experience integrating AI technologies such as large language models, vision-language models, agentic workflows, multimodal reasoning systems, or edge AI inference platforms.
  • Strong understanding of real-time systems, embedded platforms, and software-hardware integration principles.
  • Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly across engineering, product, and business stakeholders.

Preferred qualifications include:

  • Experience with real-time Linux environments such as PREEMPT_RT and deterministic kernel systems.
  • Familiarity with microcontroller platforms and RTOS environments such as Zephyr RTOS or FreeRTOS.
  • Experience with robotics simulation and development platforms such as NVIDIA Isaac SDK, Isaac Sim, Omniverse, Gazebo, Webots, or Intel RealSense.
  • Knowledge of safety and compliance standards including ISO 13849, IEC 61508, IEC 62443, and human-robot interaction safety requirements.
  • Relevant experience building developer SDKs or scalable robotics platforms.
Benefits:
  • Competitive salary range of approximately $192,500 - $290,000 USD, depending on experience, qualifications, and other job-related factors.
  • Annual bonus opportunity.
  • Comprehensive medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance coverage.
  • Paid time off and paid holidays.
  • Retirement savings contributions.
  • Equity awards for eligible positions and levels.
  • Flexible remote and/or hybrid work options depending on role requirements.
  • Opportunity to work on groundbreaking technologies across robotics, AI, voice intelligence, edge computing, and cloud platforms.
