About the Position

Star Sleep & Wellness is seeking a motivated and talented full-time dentist to join our growing Wesley Chapel team!

Our ideal candidate has a strong interest, and preferably established experience in Dental Sleep Medicine, in providing comprehensive oral appliance therapy for patients with obstructive sleep apnea and sleep-related breathing disorders. You will have the opportunity to combine excellent clinical skills with strong communication, leadership, and relationship-building abilities. This individual will serve not only as a treating dentist, but also as a clinical leader within the Florida office—helping develop the clinical team, maintain high standards of care, strengthen physician relationships, and support continued growth of the practice.

Key Clinical Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive Dental Sleep Medicine care for patients referred for treatment of obstructive sleep apnea and sleep-related breathing disorders.
  • Review physician diagnoses, sleep study information, medical history, and referral documentation relevant to oral appliance therapy.
  • Perform comprehensive dental and oral evaluations todeterminecandidacy for oral appliance therapy, including evaluation of:
  • Dentition and periodontal health
  • TMJ health and function
  • Occlusion
  • Range of mandibular movement
  • Craniofacial anatomy
  • Other potential contraindications or risk factors
  • Educate patientsregardingobstructive sleep apnea, oral appliance therapy, expected outcomes, potential side effects, treatment alternatives, and the importance of long-term management.
  • Select the mostappropriate FDA-clearedoral appliance based upon individual patient anatomy and clinical needs.
  • Obtain or oversee digital scans, records, photographs, bite registrations, and other documentationrequiredfor appliance fabrication.
  • Deliver, adjust, and titrate oral appliances tooptimizetherapeutic effectiveness and patient comfort.
  • Identifyand manage side effects associated with oral appliance therapy, including bite changes, TMJ symptoms, dental movement, discomfort, and appliance-related concerns.
  • Coordinate with the patient's sleep physician to obtain appropriate objective assessment of treatment effectiveness.
  • Provide long-term follow-up and management of patients receiving oral appliance therapy.
  • Recognize patients who may not be appropriate candidates for oral appliance therapy or who require additional evaluation by a physician or other healthcare provider.
  • Maintain thorough, accurate, and timely clinical documentation.
  • Practice according to current evidence-based Dental Sleep Medicine standards and applicable federal and Florida laws and regulations.

Patient Education & Experience

  • Clearly explain sleep apnea and treatment recommendations in language patients can understand.
  • Develop trust and rapport with patients and help them understand the importance of treating obstructive sleep apnea.
  • Effectively communicate the benefits, limitations, expectations, and responsibilities associated with oral appliance therapy.
  • Demonstrate strong case-presentation skills and the ability to help patients make informed treatment decisions.
  • Maintain an exceptional patient experience throughout consultation, treatment, titration, testing, and long-term follow-up.
  • Demonstrate empathy and patience with patients who have struggled with CPAP or previous sleep apnea treatment.
  • Maintain a high standard of responsiveness and continuity of care.

Clinical Leadership Responsibilities

  • Serve as a clinical leader and Dental Sleep Medicine resource for the Florida office.
  • Model clinical excellence, professionalism, accountability, and patient-centered care.
  • Provide clinical guidance and mentorship to dental assistants and other members of the Dental Sleep Medicine team.
  • Participate in training and continuing education of clinical staff.
  • Help establish and maintain consistent clinical protocols and workflows.
  • Promote adherence to organizational clinical standards and evidence-based treatment protocols.
  • Participate in clinical quality assurance and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborate with company dental leadership regarding clinical protocols, difficult cases, treatment outcomes, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Help develop a strong, collaborative culture within the office.
  • Provide constructive coaching and feedback to team members when appropriate.
  • Participate in regular clinical and operational meetings.
  • Take ownership of the clinical success and reputation of the Florida location.

Physician & Healthcare Provider Collaboration

  • Develop strong professional relationships with sleep physicians, primary care physicians, ENTs, pulmonologists, cardiologists, and other healthcare providers.
  • Communicate effectively with referring providersregardingtreatment recommendations, progress, outcomes, and concerns.
  • Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary sleep medicine model.
  • Understand and respect the respective scopes and responsibilities of dentists, physicians, advanced practice providers, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Serve as a knowledgeable Dental Sleep Medicine resource for referring providers.
  • Participate in physician education, community outreach, professional presentations, or referral-development activities whenappropriate.
  • Help strengthen and grow referral relationships within the local medical community.

Required Qualifications

  • DDS or DMD degree from an accredited dental school.
  • Active, unrestricted Florida dental license, or ability to obtain appropriate Florida licensure prior to beginning clinical practice.
  • License in good standing with no material restrictions that would interfere with the responsibilities of the position.
  • Current professional liability coverage or ability to obtain required coverage.
  • Current BLS/CPR certification as required.
  • Strong clinical examination and diagnostic skills within the scope of dentistry.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong patient education and case-presentation skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with physicians and other healthcare professionals.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to clinical documentation.
  • Commitment to evidence-based patient care.
  • Ability to function effectively within a multidisciplinary healthcare organization.
  • Willingness toparticipatein continuing education specific to Dental Sleep Medicine.
  • Commitment to full-time practice and active involvement in the growth and development of the Florida office.

Strongly Preferred Qualifications

  • Previousclinical experience treating patients with obstructive sleep apnea using oral appliance therapy.
  • Formal continuing education or advanced training in Dental Sleep Medicine.
  • AADSM Mastery Program participation or completion.
  • ABDSM Diplomate status or active pursuit of ABDSM Diplomate certification.
  • AADSM Qualified Dentist designation.
  • Experience selecting, delivering, adjusting, and titrating multiple oral appliance designs.
  • Experience managing TMJ symptoms, occlusal changes, and other potential complications of oral appliance therapy.
  • Familiarity with sleep study terminology, AHI/REI, oxygen saturation, treatment efficacy testing, and other clinically relevant sleep medicine concepts.
  • Understanding ofcurrent Dental Sleep Medicine practice standards and guidelines.
  • Experience working collaboratively with sleep physicians or within a multidisciplinary sleep medicine practice.
