Job Description

Location: Dallas, TX
Pay: $19.00 per hour
Schedule: Full-Time | 10:30 AM – 7:00 PM | Must be available to work weekends and holidays

Position Summary

SuiteMate Staffing Solutions is seeking a compassionate and customer-focused Pet Support Specialist to support Dallas Animal Services. In this role, you will provide exceptional customer service to Dallas residents and their pets by assisting with animal intakes, reuniting lost pets with their owners, and helping families access resources to prevent pet surrender.

The ideal candidate enjoys working with people and animals, has excellent communication and computer skills, and thrives in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide outstanding customer service to residents in person, over the phone, and via email.
  • Assist citizens with animal intake services and complete all required documentation.
  • Educate pet owners on available resources to help prevent pet surrender whenever possible.
  • Reunite lost pets with their families by verifying ownership and processing required paperwork.
  • Accurately enter and maintain records in the shelter's computer database.
  • Answer questions regarding shelter services, pet care, licensing, and community resources.
  • Work collaboratively with other departments to ensure the health, safety, and well-being of animals in the shelter.
  • Maintain accurate records while ensuring confidentiality and attention to detail.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support shelter operations.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong computer and data entry skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Comfortable working around dogs, cats, and other animals.
  • Willingness to learn about animal behavior, shelter operations, and community resources.
  • Open availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Requirements
  • No animal cruelty convictions.
  • No felony drug convictions.
  • Ability to successfully pass all required pre-employment screenings.
  • Must be reliable, dependable, and able to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) strongly preferred.
  • Previous experience working in an animal shelter, veterinary hospital, or animal care facility.
  • Experience in customer service, administrative support, reception, or data entry.
Schedule
  • Full-Time
  • 10:30 AM – 7:00 PM
  • Shelter operates 7 days a week
  • Must be available to work weekends and holidays as scheduled.
