Fire Protection Engineer

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Fire Protection Engineer based in the United States.

The role offers the opportunity to contribute to complex, high-impact engineering projects across mission-critical, federal, and industrial sectors.
You will lead fire protection design efforts for advanced facilities, including hyperscale data centers and other specialized environments.
This position combines technical expertise, project ownership, and collaboration with multidisciplinary engineering teams.

Accountabilities:

As a Fire Protection Engineer, you will oversee the technical execution of fire protection scopes across complex projects, ensuring high-quality engineering solutions while collaborating with internal and external stakeholders.

  • Manage fire protection engineering scopes for high-profile data center, mission-critical, federal, and industrial projects.
  • Serve as the engineer of record for assigned projects and oversee technical deliverables.
  • Apply fire protection design principles, codes, and standards to develop compliant engineering solutions.
  • Coordinate closely with multidisciplinary design teams to ensure successful project execution.
  • Perform engineering calculations, analysis, and technical evaluations using appropriate software tools.
  • Support the development of 3D fire protection designs using Autodesk Revit and BIM workflows.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and design staff.
  • Prioritize tasks effectively across multiple projects with complex schedules and delivery requirements.
  • Maintain strong communication with project teams, clients, and stakeholders while demonstrating professionalism and accountability.
  • Continuously improve technical knowledge and contribute to the advancement of fire protection engineering practices.
Requirements:

The ideal candidate is an experienced fire protection engineering professional with strong technical knowledge, project management abilities, and a commitment to delivering high-quality solutions.

  • 5–10 years of experience in fire protection engineering design, consulting, or construction environments.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Fire Protection Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a similar ABET-accredited engineering program.
  • Active Professional Engineering (PE/FPE) license required.
  • Strong knowledge of NFPA standards, Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC), and building codes such as IBC and SBC.
  • Proven experience with fire protection design principles and engineering practices.
  • Proficiency with Autodesk Revit and familiarity with BIM workflows for fire protection systems.
  • Ability to provide technical direction and support to engineering teams.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively.
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally (less than 20%).
  • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a collaborative team environment.
