About the Role:

The Bookkeeper will play a critical role in maintaining the financial integrity and accuracy of our healthcare organization’s accounting records. This position is responsible for managing day-to-day financial transactions, ensuring that all accounts payable and receivable are processed accurately and timely. The Bookkeeper will perform bank reconciliations, prepare payroll tax filings, and assist with tax return preparations to support compliance with regulatory requirements. By maintaining detailed and organized financial records, the Bookkeeper will provide essential data that informs budgeting, forecasting, and financial decision-making. Ultimately, this role ensures the smooth financial operations of the organization, contributing to its overall fiscal health and sustainability.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a Bookkeeper or in a similar accounting role within the healthcare or social assistance industry.
  • Proficiency in QuickBooks and other accounting software.
  • Strong knowledge of accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliation, and payroll tax processes.
  • Familiarity with tax return preparation and compliance requirements.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; Associate’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification as a Certified Bookkeeper (CB) or equivalent credential.
  • Experience working in a healthcare or social assistance environment.
  • Advanced knowledge of payroll systems and tax regulations specific to the healthcare industry.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify and resolve discrepancies efficiently.
  • Experience with additional accounting software or ERP systems.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage and record all accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions accurately.
  • Perform regular bank reconciliations to ensure consistency between bank statements and company records.
  • Utilize QuickBooks software to maintain and update financial records and bookkeeping entries.
  • Prepare and process payroll tax filings in compliance with federal and state regulations.
  • Assist in the preparation of tax returns and support audits by providing necessary documentation.
  • Maintain organized and up-to-date financial files and documentation for internal and external review.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure accurate financial reporting and resolve discrepancies.
  • Monitor and track expenses to support budget adherence and financial planning.

The Bookkeeper will apply their expertise in QuickBooks daily to accurately record and manage financial transactions, ensuring all bookkeeping entries are precise and up-to-date. Skills in accounts payable and receivable are essential for processing invoices and payments, maintaining cash flow, and tracking outstanding balances. Bank reconciliation skills are used regularly to verify that the organization's financial records align with bank statements, preventing errors and fraud.
