THIS IS A TIG WELDER POSITION THAT ALSO FABRICATES PRODUCTS FOR THE LOCATION
Position Purpose:
To perform welding and fabrication work safely, accurately, and efficiently to support shop operations and customer requirements. The Welder is responsible for producing quality welds in accordance with specifications while maintaining safety, productivity, and workmanship standards.
Goals of Position:
- Produce accurate, high-quality TIG welds that meet job specifications
- Complete assigned fabrication jobs timely & accurately with minimum rework
- Maintain safety, quality, and workmanship standards
- Support timely completion of shop and customer orders
- Properly use and maintain welding equipment and tools
- Follow company policies and safety procedures
- Report on equipment issues, safety hazards, or quality concerns
- Assist with general shop, fabrication, or material handling tasks
- Perform other duties as assigned
Responsibilities:
- Perform welding tasks using appropriate welding methods and equipment
- Read and interpret work orders, drawings, and specifications
- Prepare materials by cutting, grinding, fitting, and positioning components
- Inspect completed welds for quality, accuracy, and strength
- Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas
- Follow all safety procedures and use required PPE
- Report equipment issues, safety hazards, or quality concerns
- Assist with general shop, fabrication, or material handling tasks
- Perform other duties as assigned
Major Challenges:
- Maintaining consistent weld quality under production deadlines
- Working safely in fast-paced shop environments
- Interpreting specifications and drawings accurately
- Managing physical demands of welding and fabrication work
- Adapting to varying job requirements, materials, and priorities

Authority
Act Alone:
- Perform assigned welding and fabrication tasks
- Set up welding equipment and prepare materials
- Inspect own work for quality and completeness
Touch Base with Supervisor:
- Clarify job specifications or work instructions
- Report quality issues, safety concerns, or equipment problems
- Discuss workload priorities or material needs
Need Approval from Supervisor:
- Deviate from specifications or approved processes
- Perform rework outside standard procedures
- Authorize repairs, scrap, or material changes

Education and Experience:
- Required: High School Diploma or equivalent
- Prior welding or fabrication experience required
- Industrial or shop welding experience a plus
Certificates/Licenses/Registrations:
Welding certifications preferred but not required
Physical Demands:
- Must be able to stand for extended periods
- Frequently required to lift up to 50 pounds
- Must be able to bend, reach, crouch, and perform repetitive motions
- Must be able to read and speak English
Work Environment:
- Shop and fabrication environments
- Moderate to high noise levels
- Fast-paced, hands-on work environment
