This role is a mission-critical financial operations position supporting high-tempo defense programs in a complex and fast-paced environment. You will be responsible for providing full visibility into program budgets, expenditures, and forecasting to ensure leadership has accurate, real-time financial insight. The position plays a key role in aligning funding streams with operational priorities across multiple appropriations, while supporting strategic planning and budget execution processes. You will collaborate closely with program management, contracting, and government stakeholders to maintain financial accuracy and resolve discrepancies proactively. A strong emphasis is placed on analytical rigor, precision, and the ability to translate financial data into clear, decision-ready insights for senior leadership. - Manage end-to-end program financial operations including budgeting, forecasting, tracking obligations, and monitoring burn rates across active defense programs.
- Align and execute financial activities across multiple appropriations (O&M, RDT&E, Procurement) while ensuring compliance with DoD funding rules and requirements.
- Support budget formulation activities including POM cycles, budget reviews, and unfunded requirement (UFR) submissions.
- Reconcile financial data across DoD systems and internal tracking tools to ensure accuracy of obligations, expenditures, and commitments.
- Partner with contracting, program management, and government stakeholders to maintain financial transparency and resolve discrepancies.
- Develop and deliver financial reports, dashboards, and briefing materials for senior military and executive leadership.
- Translate complex financial data into clear insights that support strategic and operational decision-making.
Requirements:
- Minimum of 5+ years of financial management or financial operations experience supporting DoD programs.
- Active Secret clearance with eligibility to obtain Top Secret clearance required.
- Strong experience working with DoD appropriations including O&M, RDT&E, and/or Procurement funding streams.
- Hands-on experience with DoD financial systems such as GFEBS, DAI, CRIS, ERP, or similar platforms.
- Proven ability to track and analyze obligations, expenditures, commitments, and burn rates against approved budgets.
- Experience supporting PPBE processes, POM development, and reprogramming actions.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel including formulas, pivot tables, and Power Query.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to brief financial status and risk to senior leadership (GO/SES level).
- Ability to operate independently and solve complex financial challenges in fast-paced environments.
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or related field preferred.
- Experience with Power BI or similar reporting tools is a plus.
