Job overview:
Schneider is seeking a Senior Corporate Counsel in Green Bay to provide leaders with legal advice to help them implement practical business solutions. The Senior Corporate Counsel will have a deep understanding of all aspects of the businesses they support so they can offer timely and effective legal input.
Responsibilities:
- Examine facts, identify legal risks and recommend the best solutions to Schneider leaders.
- Formulate and test hypotheses drawn from limited evidence and speculation to identify and recommend solutions.
- Simplify and appropriately communicate legal matters and analyses to business leaders.
- Engage other counsel members when matters are complex.
- Work with various departments to facilitate compliance with federal and state regulations.
- Draft and negotiate business contracts, such as carrier transportation and logistics contracts, cross-border contracts, computer software contracts, etc.
- Complete legal projects assigned by senior in-house attorneys.
- Respond to legislative developments and public inquiries.
- Assist with the negotiation of acquisition or divestiture of businesses, the purchase or sale of property and negotiation of contracts and proposals.
Skills and qualifications:
- Doctor of Law.
- Admitted to practice law in Wisconsin.
- 6-10 years of experience as a practicing lawyer.
- Prior in-house experience is preferred.
- Background in transportation, human resources, finance, accounting or a heavily regulated industry is preferred.
- Able to plan, organize and prioritize a wide variety of tasks at once.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Able to meet tight deadlines while working in a fast-paced environment.
