Job overview:

Schneider is seeking a Senior Corporate Counsel in Green Bay to provide leaders with legal advice to help them implement practical business solutions. The Senior Corporate Counsel will have a deep understanding of all aspects of the businesses they support so they can offer timely and effective legal input.

Responsibilities:
  • Examine facts, identify legal risks and recommend the best solutions to Schneider leaders.
  • Formulate and test hypotheses drawn from limited evidence and speculation to identify and recommend solutions.
  • Simplify and appropriately communicate legal matters and analyses to business leaders.
  • Engage other counsel members when matters are complex.
  • Work with various departments to facilitate compliance with federal and state regulations.
  • Draft and negotiate business contracts, such as carrier transportation and logistics contracts, cross-border contracts, computer software contracts, etc.
  • Complete legal projects assigned by senior in-house attorneys.
  • Respond to legislative developments and public inquiries.
  • Assist with the negotiation of acquisition or divestiture of businesses, the purchase or sale of property and negotiation of contracts and proposals.

Skills and qualifications:
  • Doctor of Law.
  • Admitted to practice law in Wisconsin.
  • 6-10 years of experience as a practicing lawyer.
  • Prior in-house experience is preferred.
  • Background in transportation, human resources, finance, accounting or a heavily regulated industry is preferred.
  • Able to plan, organize and prioritize a wide variety of tasks at once.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Able to meet tight deadlines while working in a fast-paced environment.
