- Basic Function
The Food Safety & Quality Assurance Manager position is a working position responsible for all Food Safety and Quality system programs. Responsible for overseeing the systems that ensure food products are safe and meet quality standards. This person will play a pivotal role in maintaining food safety regulations and standards within an organization.
- Specific Duties and Responsibilities Including but Not Limited to Demonstrated Proficiency in the Following:
- Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Developing and implementing food safety programs
- Maintaining documentation regarding HACCP, GMP, SOP, and employee training
- Providing leadership, support, and guidance to ensure food quality standards, food safety guidelines, legal requirements, and customer expectations are met
- Supporting and complying with all quality management systems, continuous improvement programs, food safety, employee safety, preventative maintenance programs, and legality.
- Collaborate with other supervisors/managers to coordinate activities of individual departments including production to identify, solve and prevent problems affecting quality of product.
- Setting up quality assurance systems for proper certification
- Secondary Duties and Responsibilities
- Consult with Sr. FSQA manager to resolve quality, production, and efficiency problems
- Inspect, test or measure product for conformance to specification. Testing of Physical and Chemical properties of the product.
- Lab equipment experience including calibration and verification
- Conducting audits and inspections
- Investigating food safety concerns
- Perform internal and external plant audits to identify any non-conformance
III. Methods of Accountability- Through various oral and written reports to the Sr. FSQA Manager and other FFH Management.
- Through the accurate reporting of paperwork, timely completion of assigned work, and quality of work performed.

- Overall accuracy of reports/paperwork.
- Quality of work.
- Level of efficiency attained in quality assurance functions.
- Training and development effectiveness.
V. Mental and Physical Requirements
- Ability to perform assigned duties in a highly disruptive environment.
- Ability to efficiently work with minimum or no direct supervision.
- Must be able to work overtime when required to do so.
- Ability to perform assigned tasks under time pressure.
- Ability to perform multiple tasks efficiently at the same time.
- Strong written and oral communication skills. Attention to detail and legible penmanship.
- Must be able to produce work within exacting standards and tolerances.
VI. Education, Training and Experience
- 3-8 years of Quality Management Experience
- Bachelor's degree, Food Science discipline or equivalent.
- Proficient at Word, Excel and other Microsoft applications. Candidates’ skill set would include math skills (algebra, geometry, statistics).
VII. Working Environment and Conditions
- Hearing protection & hairnet/beard net required.
- Eye protection required for task specific functions.
- Clothing is suitable to prevent entanglement in equipment.
- A sometime hot/humid environment, greater than 80°.
