Heavy Equipment Mechanic in Hamilton, Ontario at Ontario Shipyards Inc.

Position Summary:

The Mechanic is responsible for preventative maintenance, tune-ups, troubleshoot all diesel, gasoline, and propane powered yard equipment.

Responsibilities:

• Ensure safety compliance in all work.
• Troubleshoot fix yard compressors.
• Troubleshoot fix forklifts.
• Troubleshoot snorkel and scissors lifts.
• Troubleshoot bantam and yard cranes.
• Maintain company yard trucks.
• Assist when required for all ship and tugboat mechanical issues.
• Maintain all storage areas as required keeping inventory of all stocked items.
• Document and keep inventory of minimum and maximum stock levels.
• Advise purchasing promptly of any part shortages or supply requests.
• Work with employees to find out their needs for the day.
• All other duties requested or assigned.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Heavy-Duty Equipment Technician (421A) License (preferred).
• Propane Certification License (preferred).
• Be of legal age to work in Ontario and be a registered Canadian Citizen.
• Graduate with Grade Twelve Diploma or equivalent.
• Must have a clean driving abstract.
