This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Cost Consultant, Development Advisory based in Canada.
In this role, you will support the delivery of cost consulting and development advisory services across a diverse portfolio of construction and real estate projects in Atlantic Canada. You will work closely with clients, contractors, lenders, and internal teams to ensure accurate cost planning, monitoring, and reporting throughout the project lifecycle. The position combines both office-based analysis and on-site exposure, offering a well-rounded view of construction delivery. You will contribute to estimates, change order reviews, and progress draw assessments that directly inform key financial decisions. This is a collaborative and client-facing role within a growing advisory practice. You will also benefit from strong mentorship and ongoing professional development in a high-performance consulting environment. The role offers flexibility with remote work and periodic travel for site visits across the Atlantic region.
- Deliver detailed cost consulting and development advisory services by preparing conceptual and detailed estimates, conducting quantity take-offs, and reviewing drawings, specifications, and contract documentation across multiple construction projects.
- Support project monitoring activities including progress draw assessments, change order reviews, cost tracking, and ongoing reporting to ensure accurate financial oversight throughout the project lifecycle.
- Conduct site visits and collaborate with contractors, lenders, consultants, and clients to validate pricing, assess project progress, and ensure alignment with budgets and scope expectations.
- Contribute to project governance and documentation by maintaining accurate records, supporting reporting requirements, and ensuring transparency in cost analysis and recommendations.
- Work closely with senior consultants and internal teams to support delivery excellence, improve processes, and strengthen client relationships across engagements.
- Diploma or degree in Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Engineering Technology, Architecture, Building Science, or a related field, with PQS or CEC designation (or active progress toward certification) considered an asset.
- 2–5+ years of experience in cost consulting, quantity surveying, estimating, or construction project monitoring within the real estate or infrastructure sector.
- Strong technical understanding of construction drawings, specifications, cost planning, and contract documentation, with the ability to perform accurate quantity take-offs and cost analysis.
- Proficiency with tools such as CostX, Bluebeam, Microsoft Excel, or similar estimating and construction management software.
- Strong analytical mindset with excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Self-driven, accountable, and adaptable, with the ability to work independently in a remote and field-based environment.
- Competitive salary range between CAD 65,000 and 90,000 depending on experience.
