Job Description

We are looking for a 1st Shift Quality Engineer to join our Mauston, Wisconsin facility. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys being close to the manufacturing process, working directly with production and engineering teams, and solving real manufacturing problems.
As a Quality Engineer, you will serve as a key technical quality resource for the Mauston facility. You will support production, drive corrective actions, improve process performance, strengthen our quality systems, and help ensure that customer and product requirements are consistently met.
This is not a “clipboard quality” position. You will be expected to spend time where the work is happening, investigate issues firsthand, collaborate across departments, and help turn quality concerns into practical, sustainable improvements.

What You’ll DoOwn PPAP and Core Quality DocumentationCreate, update, and maintain PPAP documentation, Control Plans, PFMEAs, process flow diagrams, inspection instructions, quality alerts, and related core quality documents.
Support product launches, engineering changes, customer submissions, and ongoing manufacturing quality requirements through accurate and controlled documentation.
Perform Hands-On Inspection and Part LayoutsPerform dimensional inspections, part layouts, and product evaluations using inspection tools such as FARO Arm, KEYENCE systems, gauges, fixtures, and other precision measurement equipment.
Apply GD&T standards to verify product conformance, support root cause analysis, and ensure customer and engineering requirements are met.
Support ISO 9001 and IATF 16949 Quality SystemsSupport and strengthen company quality systems in alignment with ISO 9001 and IATF 16949 requirements, including internal audits, layered process audits, corrective actions, risk-based thinking, process controls, and continuous improvement activities.
Assist with maintaining compliance with customer-specific requirements, internal quality procedures, document control expectations, and manufacturing quality standards.
Improve Processes, Not Just Report IssuesIdentify quality risks, process inefficiencies, recurring defects, and opportunities for improvement throughout the manufacturing process.
Partner directly with production, engineering, maintenance, and leadership to investigate issues and develop practical solutions that improve quality, reduce scrap, strengthen process capability, and prevent repeat problems.
Be an active presence on the production floor by helping teams understand quality expectations and addressing concerns where they occur.
Use Data to Make Better DecisionsTrack inspection results, analyze quality trends and defect data, and identify opportunities for measurable improvement.
Use data-driven problem-solving methods to support root cause analysis, corrective actions, containment activities, and long-term process improvements.
Help translate quality data into actionable information that production and leadership teams can use to make better decisions.
What We’re Looking ForYou do not need to know everything on day one, but you do need curiosity, precision, follow-through, and the ability to work effectively in a hands-on manufacturing environment.
We are looking for someone with strong attention to detail and the ability to recognize issues others may miss. The ideal candidate will have experience with GD&T, dimensional inspection, quality inspection tools, and manufacturing quality standards.
Experience with FARO Arm or similar portable CMM/measurement equipment is preferred, along with knowledge of PPAP, Control Plans, PFMEA, process flow diagrams, corrective actions, root cause analysis, and quality documentation.
Familiarity with ISO 9001, IATF 16949, customer-specific requirements, and manufacturing quality systems is strongly preferred.
You should also be comfortable learning new products, processes, customer requirements, and inspection methods while working collaboratively with production, engineering, quality, maintenance, and leadership teams.
Strong verbal and written communication skills are important, and Spanish/English bilingual skills are preferred.
Qualifications- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality Management, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Technology, or a related field preferred. Equivalent manufacturing quality experience will also be considered.
- Two or more years of experience in manufacturing quality engineering, quality technician, process engineering, or a related technical quality role preferred.
- Experience with GD&T interpretation, dimensional inspection, root cause analysis, corrective actions, and quality documentation.
- FARO Arm or similar dimensional measurement experience preferred.
- Working knowledge of ISO 9001 quality management systems required; experience with IATF 16949 strongly preferred.
- Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and balance floor support with documentation and project responsibilities.
- Ability to collaborate effectively across production, engineering, maintenance, quality, and leadership.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and quality data management systems.
- Bilingual English/Spanish strongly preferred.
This is a 1st Shift position based at our Mauston, Wisconsin facility, offering the opportunity to play an important role in the continued development of our quality systems and manufacturing processes.
