Description:

SUMMARY

Organized, hand-on, safety-focused individual to effectively coach employees in both classroom and production environments. Support the Training Supervisor in executing onboarding, compliance, and operational training programs for manufacturing employees. Responsible for facilitating classroom training, supporting hands-on OJT activities on the Production floor, maintaining training records, and ensuring employees are properly trained in Company procedures, work instructions, and safety practices before working independently on the Production floor.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

New Hire Orientation & Training

Facilitates onboarding and operational training sessions for new hires.

Conducts training reviews of:

Work Instructions

SOPs

Forms

HACCP and Food Defense

Allergen and cGMP

Safety Procedures

Quality requirements

Ensures employees understand training expectations before floor assignment.

Training Documentation & Compliance

Maintains accurate training records and signoffs.

Uploads completed training documentation into tracking quality management systems.

Ensures training compliance requirements are completed on time.

Assists with audit readiness and training documentation retrieval.

OJT (On-the-Job Training) Support

Supports hands-on training activities on the production floor.

Coaches employees on:

Equipment operation

Process flow

Safety practices

Proper documentation

Validates employee understanding and escalate gaps to leadership.

Assists in development and creation of training curriculum for all components of NOW’s training programs.

Weekly Hands-On Training Support

Assists with scheduled training day activities.

Supports hands-on demonstrations, including:

Equipment disassembly

Equipment reassembly

Cleaning and setup procedures

Reinforces operational best practices and standard work.

Training Program Support

Assists in updating training materials and OJT packets.

Provides feedback on training effectiveness and employee progress.

Partners with Production, Quality, and Safety teams to identify training needs.

Complies with all safety and GMP requirements.

Requirements:

SAFETY RESPONSIBILITY STATEMENT

Effectively provides and accepts constructive peer-to-peer feedback on safety performance. Adheres to policies, procedures, SOP’s, safe work practices, and safety policies and procedures. Reports ALL workplace incidents to the supervisor immediately. Communicates concerns to supervisor, reports hazards, and provides input on prevention. Properly uses, wears, and stores Personal Protective Equipment when required. Participates in safety teams and/or completes safety-related activities as part of regular job responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma or equivalent and two (2) years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. Associate’s degree preferred.
  • Manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Intermediate experience with electronic documentation management system software is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of Oracle or another ERP system preferred.
  • Intermediate to advanced skill level in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Basic to intermediate computer skills (Smartsheet, training systems).

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Excellent communication (oral and written) skills, with the ability to write clear, well-organized, and engaging training materials and the ability to engage effectively with a large group of employees with different backgrounds and varying skill levels. Bi-lingual (oral and written) skills in Spanish are preferred.
  • Intermediate collaboration and teamwork skills, and ability to develop rapport with different employees.
  • Creativity to develop engaging ways to write and present training.
  • Strong coaching and mentoring skills.
  • Strong organization skills and effective time management skills necessary to prioritize and handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment with urgency and flexibility.
  • Strong collaboration and teamwork skills and ability to develop rapport and connect with employees with different experience and diverse backgrounds.

  • Good problem-solving skills.
  • Safety awareness.
  • Documentation management.
  • Ability to train and coach employees in group and one-on-one settings.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including off shifts and weekends.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to work at a desk and enter information into a computer and communicate with other departments in person and on the telephone. The employee is regularly required to move between facilities (391 & 395); ascend and/or descend stairs; and to reach, climb, balance, or stoop. Specific vision requirements for this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Good manual dexterity is required.

Employee frequently is required to lift up to 35 lbs. Employee must have ability to stand on two step and three step stools, ladders and use a utility knife. Employee is frequently exposed to vapors, powders and/or herbal aromas.

When working on the Production floor:

  • Employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts.
  • Frequently exposed to herbal aromas, dust, and/or airborne particles, some classified as allergens or irritants.
  • Works in all areas of NOW’s manufacturing facilities with direct exposure to ingredients (powders and liquids), mixes (powders and liquids), equipment, and packaging.
  • Frequently exposed to all the FDA designated major food allergens (Milk, Eggs, Fish, Crustacean shellfish (e.g., crab, lobster, shrimp), Tree nuts (e.g., almonds, walnuts, pecans) except for peanuts, Wheat and Soybeans, Sesame.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderately loud, and in some areas where louder hearing protection is required.
