Position SummaryThe Director, Safety provides strategic and operational leadership for health, safety, and environmental programs across BPP operations. This hands-on leader is responsible for advancing safety performance, maintaining regulatory compliance, strengthening safety culture, and developing the EHS team. The role partners closely with operational leaders to ensure safety remains integrated into business growth, manufacturing activities, facility expansion, and continuous improvement initiatives.This position maintains a visible presence within manufacturing operations, drives accountability at all levels of the organization, and leads programs that protect employees, support operational excellence, and reduce risk.Key Responsibilities• Lead and continuously improve company safety and environmental programs, policies, procedures, and management systems.• Develop, coach, and manage the EHS team to ensure consistent execution and effective site coverage across locations.• Maintain a strong presence in manufacturing operations to promote engagement, hazard identification, and safe work practices.• Ensure compliance with applicable Cal/OSHA, OSHA, environmental, NFPA, and other regulatory requirements.• Lead electrical safety programs, including NFPA 70E compliance, arc flash risk management, lockout/tagout programs, PPE requirements, and safe work practices.• Support new facility start-ups, equipment relocations, and operational expansions through safety planning, training, hazard assessments, and readiness reviews.• Strengthen safety culture through employee involvement, supervisor engagement, near-miss reporting, behavior-based safety initiatives, and workplace organization practices.• Oversee incident investigations, root cause analysis, corrective actions, industrial hygiene activities, and risk assessments for new equipment, processes, and materials.• Develop and communicate EHS performance metrics, dashboards, and reports for leadership stakeholders.• Partner with Human Resources, Operations, Engineering, Manufacturing, and Facilities teams on safety initiatives, workers’ compensation, return-to-work programs, training, and facility design.• Manage the EHS budget and prioritize investments that improve safety performance and reduce organizational risk.Required Qualifications• Bachelor’s degree in occupational safety, environmental science, industrial engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.• Minimum of 10 years of progressive safety or EHS experience in manufacturing or industrial operations.• Minimum of 5 years leading safety programs across multiple facilities and at least 3 years managing safety professionals.• Direct experience with Cal/OSHA compliance, including Injury and Illness Prevention Program (IIPP) ownership, inspection management, and corrective action implementation.• Working knowledge of NFPA 70E, arc flash risk assessment, and hazardous energy control practices in industrial or electrical manufacturing environments.• Demonstrated success improving safety performance, building safety culture, and supporting facility expansions or equipment relocations.• Experience developing and managing EHS budgets and presenting results to senior leadership.• Proficiency with EHS management systems, incident tracking, and reporting tools.• Strong ability to maintain safety standards and accountability in fast-paced operational environments.• Based in or willing to relocate to the greater Sacramento or Rancho Cordova area.• Valid California driver’s license with a driving record that meets company requirements.Preferred Qualifications• CSP, CIH, CHMM, or equivalent professional certification.• Experience implementing behavior-based safety programs.• Experience within electrical equipment, switchgear, switchboard, or panel manufacturing environments.• Experience managing or supporting arc flash and incident energy studies.• Experience with 5S implementation and workplace organization initiatives.• Experience supporting field installation or service operations.• Experience working within or transitioning from a PEO environment.• Conversational Spanish or experience training and supporting a multilingual workforce.Physical Requirements• Ability to spend significant time in active manufacturing environments.• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the workday.• Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds and perform bending, stooping, climbing stairs, and ladder use as needed.• Ability to wear required personal protective equipment, including respiratory and arc-rated protection when required.• Regular exposure to manufacturing conditions, including noise, welding fumes, metal dust, solvents, powered equipment, cranes, and electrical testing operations.• Ability to work occasionally at heights, outdoors, and in mechanical or electrical rooms.• Availability to support incident response and regulatory notifications outside normal business hours when needed.• Ability to CompensationThe base pay range for this role is $160,000 – $240,000 per year.
