Job Title: Team Lead - Shipping

Department: Logistics

Reports To: Logistics Manager

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

SUMMARY

Leads and coordinates activities of team of workers by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Provides leadership to ensure employees demonstrate appropriate work skills, technical accuracy, efficiency and conformity to company policies.
  • Regularly monitors each team member’s adherence to safe work practices and Company’s safety policies as well as all quality policies and procedures.
  • Meets with leader to determine work priorities and adjusts work activities accordingly.
  • Coordinates cross training to increase capabilities of the team, meeting customer requirements and for individual employment development.
  • Serves as contact person for other Leaders to answer questions or concerns affecting multiple departments, such as Purchasing, Production, Safety, and Quality.
  • Relays and shares information with employees and other departments in a timely manner. Schedules meetings with staff and attends meetings with other departments to ensure optimum communication.
  • Monitors scheduling to ensure adherence to quality standards.
  • Coordinates pick-up and delivery routes and requests for AES drivers with customer service.
  • Provides positive and constructive feedback to employees verbally and in writing. Shares feedback with leader regarding employee productivity, warranty rates and safe work practices. Partners with leader to share feedback for performance reviews.
  • Ensures employees receive appropriate training necessary to meet and exceed job expectations. Coaches employees requiring additional support and training.
  • Assists employees with difficult or unusual situations, making decisions about disposition of situation or the need to seek additional authorization for action.
  • Participates in leadership training and other company programs to develop leadership and job skills.
  • Maintains a clean, safe, and orderly work area.
  • Spends a reasonable percentage of time focused on efficiency.
  • Works side by side with team approximately 50-75% of work time.
  • Performs other duties as directed by leadership.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Provides leadership to a team of employees specific to processes, workflow, safety and quality.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma preferred.
  • College level courses in business, finance, economics, statistics, manufacturing, logistics, or related helpful.
  • Minimum of 2 years of logistics experience preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY

  • Requires familiarity with all Microsoft applications, including Outlook, Excel and Word.
  • Must have strong self-initiative.
  • Must have strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Requires strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Requires strict confidentiality in dealing with sensitive, private information.
  • Requires effective interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work relatively independently with supervision available to address non-routine questions.
  • Ability to willingly participate in a team environment to achieve departmental and organizational goals and objectives.
  • Ability to work with established deadlines.
  • Requires ability to assess situations, prioritize, re-prioritize and make appropriate decisions.
  • Mechanical aptitude beneficial.
  • Flexibility to work outside of standard business hours to meet business needs.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Frequent standing at a workstation to perform repair of units. Must be able to frequently lift 25 lbs without assistance. Frequent bending, stopping, climbing, turning, twisting and standing. Frequent computer work. Consistent attendance with occasional off-shift support required.

Generally, will work in a climate controlled, well-lit work area. May occasionally travel to customer, vendor sites, or training centers.
