Yancey’s Fancy is a family-owned, local cheese company known for crafting award-winning cheeses with pride and tradition. As our operation continues to grow, we are looking for a dependable and mechanically inclined Facilities Maintenance Associate to join our team.

You will work alongside experienced maintenance team members to help keep our food-production facility, equipment, and building systems operating safely and efficiently.

What You'll Do

• Assist with routine maintenance, repairs, and upkeep throughout the facility
• Perform basic troubleshooting of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and building-related issues
• Assist with preventive maintenance on facility and production equipment
• Help maintain HVAC, refrigeration, plumbing, lighting, doors, conveyors, pumps, and other facility systems
• Use basic hand and power tools safely and properly
• Respond to maintenance requests and assist with identifying the cause of problems
• Perform basic repairs and adjustments under the direction of experienced maintenance personnel
• Assist with inspections of equipment and building systems
• Complete maintenance logs, work orders, and required documentation
• Help maintain a clean, organized, and safe maintenance area
• Follow all company safety procedures, OSHA requirements, GMPs, and food-safety practices
• Assist with emergency repairs or facility issues when needed
• Work cooperatively with Production, Sanitation, Warehouse, and other departments
• Learn and develop additional maintenance skills through hands-on training

What We're Looking For

We are looking for someone who is reliable, mechanically inclined, willing to learn, and comfortable working in a manufacturing environment.

Required:

• High school diploma or GED
• Basic mechanical aptitude
• Ability to use common hand and power tools
• Ability to troubleshoot basic problems and follow instructions
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
• Strong attention to safety and detail
• Reliable transportation and dependable attendance
• Willingness to learn new equipment, systems, and maintenance procedures
• Able to lift 50-75 lbs.
• CMS experience; basic computer knowledge

Preferred, but Not Required:

• 1 year of maintenance, mechanical, manufacturing, construction, or skilled-trade experience
• Experience with electrical, plumbing, HVAC, refrigeration, welding, or mechanical systems
• Technical school, trade school, or vocational training
• Experience in a food-production or manufacturing environment

This position requires the ability to:

• Stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb, and work in various positions throughout the workday
• Lift and carry materials and equipment as needed
• Work from ladders, lifts, elevated platforms, and rooftops when necessary
• Work in varying temperatures, including refrigerated and production areas
• Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE)
• Safely perform hands-on maintenance tasks in an active food-production environment
• Ability to work occasional Saturday
