Joining RWJBarnabas Health means becoming part of New Jersey's largest integrated academic healthcare system, where patient-centered care, teamwork, quality, and professional development are central to delivering exceptional healthcare services.

  • Selecting and preparing infants for hearing screening in accordance with program policies, screening procedures, and nursery requirements.
  • Operating hearing screening equipment according to established instructions, completed training, and demonstrated competency requirements.
  • Accurately recording screening results and providing screening information to the appropriate Audiologist, nursing personnel, and other designated healthcare team members.
  • Recognizing unusual occurrences, potential screening concerns, or other problems and promptly reporting them to the supervising Audiologist, nurse manager, or other designated personnel.
  • Performing daily equipment checks and maintaining hearing screening equipment in good working condition to support reliable screening operations.
  • Monitoring supplies and notifying the program supervisor of low inventory, equipment malfunctions, or other operational concerns.
  • Completing required screening records, logs, and other documentation accurately and in a timely manner in accordance with departmental procedures.
  • Maintaining strict patient confidentiality and protecting the privacy of patient records, screening results, and communications with families and healthcare personnel.
  • Communicating professionally and compassionately with parents, families, visitors, nursing personnel, physicians, Audiologists, and other hospital staff.
  • Assisting the Manager of Speech and Hearing or designated supervisor with assigned departmental responsibilities and operational activities.
  • Participating in required hospital orientation programs, ongoing training, competency assessments, and continuing education activities.
  • Following hospital policies and procedures related to patient safety, equipment operation, professional conduct, and workplace safety.
  • Wearing hospital identification with name and title clearly visible while on duty.
  • Supporting departmental quality improvement initiatives and contributing to efficient, patient-centered hearing screening services.
  • Performing other related duties as assigned by the supervisor and/or Director of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R).
